First time for me and it can fuck off and stay fucked right off.
Fell asleep about half 10 or so last night, lovely. Not bloody lovely at all in fact. Had a nightmare and woke up just before 1. I could feel a hand around my right wrist but couldn't feel my wrist inside my left hand. Assumed it had gone dead through laying like a twat. Thought to myself "oh man, this is gonna sting like a bitch when it comes back to life " Took a deep breath coz log limb moving takes effort and up flew my left arm, no effort, totally alive and NOT holding my right wrist at all. Then that wrist got grabbed too.
The horror that engulfed me at that moment was heart stopping and I jumped like I'd just been zapped by a defibrillator and woke up proper all panicked and afraid to go back to sleep for a couple of hours.
It was a fucking 2 parter, I dreamed I'd woken up the first time round
That shit is twisted.
Anyone else had a 2-part nightmare like that? It's bleeding horrid!

Yes I have dreams like that I can't move someone holding me down then go back to sleep it happens again.
Late night dream was good there was no social distancing I was going around kissing people not say who they was |

Oh poor your I hope you have a better nights sleep tonight. I generally don't remember my dreams and thankfully don't get nightmares as you just described. Do have jumpy dreams that wake me and sometimes crack my elbow on the bedside unit. |

I made sure I got up, went and checked all the doors were locked and did all I could to get rid of the feeling coz it proper freaked me out. I watched some videos on you tube for brain distraction.
Was about 4 before I dropped back off again.
Ha! You keep those lips sealed |

"No, but if I wake really early morning and then fall back over for another wee snooze, I'm prone to weird silly dreams "
Oh my god I swear that must be a thing ,.. lay-in dreams are always so much wierder!!
This has reminded me , when I was younger ,I once came round from a night mare, ( robbery or mugging or some such;rather than monsters and ghouls) was so shaken I decided I would take the katan down from the wall and lay that just there next to my pillow. .. in my follow up dream I had the sword with me !! It was like something from the movie "dream scape" lol |

"Sounds scary!
I rarely dream, or I just don’t remember.
I can’t even remember having a nightmare ever.
It really was. I don't recommend it.
How's Misty? "
If by Misty you mean the enormous food baby I dropped into the China chair this morning then it’s probably well on it’s way to be recycled into something new at the sewage plant by now.

Feel for you though, they feel so real! |

Mr S has these...what I think are called‘night terrors’ in kids...semi conscious nightmares with paralysis. Sleep phases go awry when he’s stressed or anxious (he had a shit childhood and can be trauma related) He now gets up for a bit to avoid falling back in to it...basically resets. Horrible and scary for you xx |

I've had the ones where you think you've woken up but you can't move. Sleep paralysis maybe. True horror. Probably caused by real life events at the time.

That sounds bloody terrifying.
When I had a fever 8 years ago I thought I was lying awake in bed and that my husband was covering my mouth and nose with his hand and suffocating me. I woke up terrified and gasping for air and realised it was a dream, fell asleep once I'd calmed down only for the same thing happen 3 more times. My poor ex-husband, he wouldn't hurt a fly! I felt a bit uneasy around him for a couple of days after that. |

"Have these quite a lot when there's stuff going on in the waking world.
The feeling of fear is so real, and doesn't like to leave very quickly at all.
"
I think it's pretty obvious to assume mine came from the conversations that have been opening up the last few days, the memories that have been stirred etc.
I've defo had links to shit that's going down in waking life and dreams/nightmares.
My nightmare count has significantly lowered in the last year though, despite the covid threat. |

I've had dreams where I've woken up screaming + fighting off inspects that are swarming over my face /into my mouth +eyes
It takes a good couple of mins to realise where i am and that I'm dreaming - I'm usually soaked in sweat and all the covers are on the floor |

It was the first time I've ever woken up in a dream or nightmare but not really woken up.
That was the absolute worst bit. That's what made the wrist grabbing extra real.
I've dreamed about being at work, waking up and thinking "man it was a dream! I feel like I've only just finished and now I've gotta get up and go there!" But never ever thought I'd woken but was still asleep. |

I'd say so.... true for many of us.
It's good that the count has lowered despite covid though |

I had some really lucid dreams last night about my Grandad. Mainly events that happened before I was born or when I was very young. Some ad libs in there too, I think. It wasn't a nightmare, per se, but uncannily like it was real |

Twice this week
One where Dad was in cardiac arrest
Second at his funeral (where, weirdly, his coffin was brought in on a fork lift truck )
Both of them were two parters
Both of them left me feeling wretched the following day |

You might have had sleep paralysis.
A frightening experience which I’ve suffered from a few times where you literally can’t move and it feels exactly like you described, someone holding you down. You think you’re yelling for help too but no sound comes out.
Horrible
