"Me. Also the ones pretending you've met, then saying you may as well continue chatting
Haha...do you not have a spreadsheet of who've you met to validate these claims? "
I think people remember who they have met |

No and don't need to but the ones who follow this pretending method are always wrong/lying.
Don't mention my name, where we're supposed to have met, have any words on their profile or photos other than their ****.
I call them out on it if I can be bothered.

We've managed to avoid them somehow. We get "Hi hru?" messages and "Wanna meet?" messages but I don't think we've had one of these.
If we got one it would go straight in the bin like those other crap messages. |

Not always at first , sometimes people get in touch years later with a dodgy face pic or even without and I don’t always remember until they give me details like where did we meet .
There’s of course the ones that are chancers and trying their luck .

Yep, I just ignore now, I used to reply to say no to be polite but they're looking for that hook to engage and don't need an argument as to why I don't answer their question! |

Yes if my filters are off, and they’re really irritating.
Depending on my mood I either ignore straight off
Or if I’m feeling really arsey I’ll reply with something like
You can, but just one. Oh shit, you already did, nevermind, better luck with the next person.
I’ll wait see if they reply out of interest then block |

There was once a woman who I met that became a bit of a stalker so had to block. She came back on a different profile and in her first message she said 'Hi...we haven't met...'...immediately got me thinking and out came the block button. |

Can I ask you something?
"No. Fuck Off"
They don't ask again and unfortunately I'm getting grumpy in my old age and I don't swear much and I'm not normally rude, but these stupid messages just wind me up. |

It is a socially accepted way to ease into something that might be a personally awkward question, what it really is, though is manipulative. By asking a non question, the asker is being passively defensive. They are defending themselves from potentially negative reactions to the real question by posing an easy lead in, if the answer is ‘no’ they’re not the one being impolite, after all asking if you can ask has to be polite?!
By getting a ‘yes’ to this polite lead in question, you are already predisposed to positively answer the following question because you’ve have already partially agreed to it.
(My one serious answer of the day). |

Yes. I have done.
The first time I fell hook line n sinker and checked my messages to see what the fuff I had said to this person and when ......
Then ping ! A penny drop.
Fool me once..... They just get deleted now.
