Hi I have some questions mainly towards people who are vegan, or more specifically to those who take their nutrition seriously whilst choosing to be vegan.
Obviously nutrition can be complicated, but I am curious do you guys have to measure and keep track of where you get b12, or sources and amounts of foods to make up the essential amino acids, do you have to monitor how much iron you receive from diet?
These are simply questions! I feel I need to state this because it’s curiosity not arguing over the lifestyle. I have a friend who struggles to eat meat and came to me about some malnutrition issues and when I looked at foods etc it became super complicated at first glance when foods are restricted. |

i don't think i can post a link here, but google Dr Greger's daily dozen... It goes into the nutrition - how to accelerate by linking food groups and avoiding certain combinations which prevent absorption of key vits/minerals
Many food vegan drinks are fortified with Vit B12... So if you are eating well every day and have no underlying issues, really you should only need to supplement with vit D (which everyone in W hemisphere should be doing) |

I absolutely second to that! most vegan foods/drinks are supported with B12 so you don’t really need to have as a vitamin.
However, you can also add couple of spoons of yeast flakes (engevita) to meals if you don’t really use milk/meat alternatives |

"I’m not great with getting my b12/iron so I supplement those with an oral spray along with Vit D as suggested by Midnight. "
You might need to check what you are eating when you are getting your iron .. You might be preventing absorption inadvertently |

I’ve just recently saw how much caffeine affects absorption of nutrients too, kinda shocked me! I have loads! I’ll be dialling that back lol.
Ok thanks for the answers |

Yeah i always used to have a coffee with my lunch.. Now try to avoid it during the day - at least 2 hours after eating.. It's improved my iron |

I’ve been veggie for over 20 years, and vegan for four. You don’t really have to supplement if you’re following a vegan diet. Most cereals are fortified, plant milks are fortified, marmite has B12 in it, nutritional yeast has it too. Just follow a balanced diet and stay away from processed foods. Don’t fall in the trap of spending a fortune on vegan ready meals. Follow vegan pages on Instagram, they have some brilliant food ideas. The only thing you should supplement is vitamin D, but that has nothing to do with being a vegan, that’s just because we live in a country without enough sun. |

"I substitute my vegan diet with meat, it seems to cover most of my needs
Was it truly needed to do that? Give yourself a pat on the back "
Nope but I don't take myself too seriously, others can if they please |

There will be at least one person who is unkind to other people’s life choices / curiosities and think it’s funny to be sarcastic about it.
