Are you the type of person that eats the same things week in week out or do you make a point to try new recipes / foods?
What are your favourites?
I need new ideas. |

I go through phases. Where I make cook lots of new recipes which I add to my list. Then I get bored again and go through an experiment phase again.
Currently in experiment phase. Favourite new recipe is salmon, with chorizo and green lentils yum. |

How do you make the lentils?
I'm not sure I like them unless they're in Daal |

My ex used to make lasagne garlic baguettes

I make a lot of Thai or Asian style dinners, as they're tasty and really quick. But often change things around and try new things. |

Serious now
I buy what I look the look of
I'm not a chef, but I can put a plate of food together and make it look pretty
I eat very little meat and what I do eat is generally part of a dish
The thought of a slab of meat on my plate knocks me sick, but I'm up for a bowl of chicken broth or beef stew
My other half is like REALLY fussy with food, but he's getting better with stuff so we have a lot of food sampling before it getscon the menu
Spinach is the latest victory
I bought some Alphabites the other week, spelled his name out and put it on a plate with some beans and chicken nuggets
That wasn't appreciated |

I mix up the flavorings for chicken and rice.
We tend to stick to the same vegetables as he's fussy, but I make different meals weekly.
I have a cupboard and spice carousel full of herbs, spices and marinades and always have passata, white sauce (which I can't be bothered to make myself), rice, bulgur wheat, various pastas, tacos and wraps.
My freezer has chicken, minced beef and fish, then I buy other meat when we want it.
I hate cooking.

I cheat, it's one of my midweek meals. I fry green beans for 2 min, add chopped chorizo for 3. Then add chopped rosemary and a tin of green lentils cook for another 5 min. Add a balsamic dressing over the top job done |

I try and mix things up - I love ramen so experiment with various broths etc.
Ottolenghi is brilliant for new ideas when I've become a bit meh about food - I made some delicious kaaklo which are plantain fritters with so much epic flavour recently. Also shakshuka is delicious and not particularly unhealthy as well. |

Seeing _eli’s post the other day I thought ooooh I’m going to google recipes with chorizo!
I made a chicken and chorizo jambalaya last night and it was soooooo tasty! That’s going to become a new regular! Yet to try the chicken and chorizo casserole. That also sounded good. |

Jambalaya is epic! I bought two chorizo(s?) today and I've helpfully put on an app I have with the fiance where they are so I don't have to do another thread. Chorizo with roasted chickpeas is amazing. |

I like simple meals really - and ones that don't require a lot of washing up
Baked spud, scooped out, mashed up with cheese & crispy bacon and put back in the oven for a bit
Spicy Quorn burger with lettuce & beef tomato on a fresh roll with a few beer battered chips
A cold spread, sliced ham, crusty fresh bread, tomato, lettuce, sliced boiled egg, cheese & onion roll, pickles, coleslaw
Wholewheat pasta, a good chilli oil or basil oil, parmesan shavings, pine nuts
Fishfinger butty on doorstep bread with a salad
Cheese omelette
Bacon medallions, veggie sausage, tomato, mushrooms, scrambled egg
I'm not very inventive |

Me too! I don't get it when people say that there's no point in cooking proper dinners, only for themselves. I cook full blown feasts just for me most of the time.
I'm definitely going to give those plantain fritters a try at some point too

Variety spice of life (knowing there are so many different styles/cuisines to try from all over the World), would be a real shame to limit oneself to the same style of dish without having made any attempts to try others. Diversity is what makes life interesting. |

Precisely that, tried it this way as didn’t want to buy all the individual spices needed, liked it so then bought the staples for the cupboard.
The thing about cooking something new they don’t always work out as they should, but doesn’t put me off trying again. My first go at making a paella looked ok but just tasted blah and a heavy stodge. Changed the pan to a skillet, altered a few things and tasted better. |

Because I bought all of the ingredients, I ended up cooking that kind of food a lot more.
A lot of my experimenting has turned out pretty poor, but at least I know what I can try next time to make it tasty |

I do tend to have a bit of a routine, just makes shopping and cooking easier, fits into a tight budget and Im fairly certain it will get eaten by the fussier of buggers. I do try new stuff occasionally and sometimes go wild and vary the routine so instead of mash on a monday we will have it on a wednesday |
