I want to know about your composite fencing experiences
Does anyone have it?
How does it stack up against traditional wooden fencing?
Is it durable / easy to maintain?
I live on the side of a hill with zero shelter from the elements, so the winds can be a bit fierce
Interested in hearing from anyone who has it
I will make my next thread about something frisky I promise |

"I've no knowledge or advice but what I can provide is a wind test afterwards to check its sturdiness "
I'll invite all forumites for the grand unveiling
There's enough hot air in here to test even the strongest structures |

How do you think Pisa ended up with a leaning tower? |

Where I live is incredibly windy, all of the time and most people here use alternating wooden slat fencing as its not a solid structure, is fairly environmentally friendly and you grow plants through it, which looks nice especially in a place where everything gets blown over! |

I feel like the last statement is untrue. But I now fully expect you to prove me wrong.
Sorry Bussy, I wish I could help with the fence, but our wind is contained by walls here. |

Without wishing to sound thick, what is alternating wooden slat fencing?
I need solid and high fencing cos my dog is a lunatic and so is next doors |

I agree. Solid structure offers too much resistance. Trees and hedges are best, but not instant fixes. Put up something with gaps and grow something on the inner side. |

The main thing if it’s windy is the uprights that go in the round, don’t skimp on them, I’d say a minimum would be 4x4 timber, one third of the post should be concreted in the ground. |

At the minute all the posts and bases are concrete with solid wooden panels between
All are in place and upright, but some are in better condition than others
I need to replace 28 panels in total if I do them all
I like the look of the slatted ones, but they wouldn't be an option cos of the narky mutts |

They're totally dog proof because no gaps to get through ... just the wind does |

But they can see each other (I assume) and then it turns into The Great British Bark Off |

They can hear and smell each other, regardless of seeing through gaps. You won't stop the barking, only the wind. |

"You can only see through it at certain angles but no very far but easily sorted by filling in with an extra slat?"
I do like the look of it, I must admit |

It works fantastically well in exceedingly windy places (why it's so common around here!) |

"I have a 6'6" wooden fence around my garden . Great for when I'm in the hot tub. Keeps the wind down and gives privacy for when the fun starts. "
You can just let rip in the hot tub... no need to keep the wind down!! The bubbles are great camouflage |
