I have a family member, who will be 90 in a few weeks.
He was hoping to have a big party, but obviously that is out of the question.
With the money he would have paid for the party, he has decided to buy presents for the whole family, to celebrate, and remember the occasion.
I have suggested, Flowers, Chocolate or Wine for the ladies.
He would prefer to be a bit more generous than that.
Regarding the men, we don't have anything in mind.
I would welcome any suggestions, for something memorable, to give to both the ladies and gents.

So if I’m reading this right, the birthday man is giving gifts to others rather than receiving himself.
If that’s the case and a celebration of his life, why not something that is personal between him and each guest, a memory of his favourite time with each person and from that comes the gift and why they are receiving it |

Ma Cousin sent me a Happy 60th Birthday card on Friday, I was only 59 ffs
I had stern words with her, the silly mare
Anyway OP, I don't know wat to buy or receive either for Xmas or Birthdays, it's just pot luck from me when I do buy them |

How many is he buying for? The problem with such generic gifts is they don't commemorate the person. Cufflinks, wine, flowers and chocolates are not always well recieved, do many actually wear cufflinks anymore?
How about a plant for those who have a garden? Seeds? A proxy gift? Good Gifts have amazing proxy gifts.
Happy Birthday! |

For my Dads 80th, my sister arranged for a professional photographer to take of shots of us as a family
I thought it was a bit naff at the time, but fast forward 4 years and they are an absolute treasure
Both my parents are in poor health now and the portraits offer a capsule of happier times |

Those picture frames where everyone involved can update/ post photos regularly from wherever they are. He can get one for himself too. Then one for his family/ friends. This has been amazing for our Nan. She gets to see the lives of all her extended family and stares at it for hours as it changes screens. She’s housebound |

"Teatowels with his face on.
Love this!
I'm getting my face put on cushions for my grandchildren next Christmas. "
You can animal shaped ones with your face on or comedy ones too. I really think they're great. You can give em a snuggle or talk to them. |

I’d give each of them a beautifully framed photo of himself, in black and white. Either an old photo or a recent one.
It was a suggestion from the film The Family Stone, and I think it’s a lovely idea, especially if it’s for close friends/family. |

Totally off thread, but I saw something last week that made my melt
It was a lady who offered a service making keepsakes for people who have lost pets
You send her their blankets, bedding, toys etc and she makes little patchwork blankets and stuff from them
I thought that was a lovely idea |

A experience, get a family photo shoot experience day the type where everyone can get envolved and dress up on site at the place its done, make a nice fun album.
Experiences to look back on those fun moments.
The problem with cufflinks and wine & flowers is, cufflinks are hardly worn then end up in the bottom of a drawer& forgotten, flowers are die... forgotten
Wine drank... forgotten.
The themes are brilliant like superhero, film ect

But a get together of people is not an option at the moment, hence asking for gift ideas. |

He is a very kind and generous guy, and wants to give rather than receive."
I think his face on a tea towel is a lovely idea and something to treasure rather than chocolates, flowers or wine which have gone in a week. |
