How long do you keep packaging and instructions for? I don't mean the outer packaging that it was delivered in. I mean the box with the branding, pretty pictures of the item etc and the instruction booklet that accompanies it?

I tend to hold to them for a while incase I have to send it back. The instructions - varies. If it's something that is simple to operate I will eventually throw it away once I have memorised it. If it's a product that has complex instructions then I'll hold on to it for the entire time I have the product.

a town called malice

Not so much how long I keep them but the funniest one ( many years ago) was on a van go tent, just a plain brown envelope with black text that simply read “erection instructions”

It was a long time ago

Mine varies on price. If it's expensive or I think the original packaging will help with a future resale then I'll keep it forever. If the thing works and wasn't bank busting then I'll throw it away almost instantly.

I'm the same - if it's expensive and small like a mobile phone box then I'll consider keeping it.

But I can't hoard giant TV boxes or anything like that- I don't like mess

On a mooch

Once it is up and running the packaging is gone. Booklets are kept, just in case and normally get culled every time I move house.
