My mate's car broke down just as she was about to set off on holiday.
She said it was her usual bad luck and everything always goes wrong.
I said it was brilliant luck that it broke down at home and not in the middle of nowhere.
Are you positive/ optimistic and see the good in situations... or are you more negative/ pessimistic?
(She got her car fixed and was only an hour late setting off on holiday in case you were wondering!) |

The wold story of glass being half full or half empty. There has been some research (neurolinguistics) that suggests positive affirmations and statements even those you say to yourself can have a positive effect on the outcome of things. Really interesting topic as it challenges perceptions.... |

I like that, I think it's true. One of my workmates once moaned that I got all the good jobs whereas hers always went wrong. The truth was, all my jobs went badly wrong too but I always just tried to see the good aspects. She only ever saw the bad aspects in hers. |

Heard a radio discussion about the same topic. As you say really interesting. Obviously there are tragic events that are difficult to take positives from. However the people who constantly moan about their bad luck seem to look for it, and it then becomes a self perpetuating habit. |

"Definition of a pessimist: somebody who looks both ways while crossing a one-way street."
Not funny really but a friend of mine got knocked down on a one way street when someone sped down it when they realsised they were driving the wrong way |

I'd go so far as glass 3/4 full!!
Possibly down to a more 'life's too short' mentality and a general attitude change that what will be, will be!
At the end of the day - shit will always happen - if you realise that it tends to come as less of a nasty suprise! |

it was very good luck her car didnt brake down in the middle of nowhere.
its like when my son was born i was disapointed because i had wanted a girl.
i was realy pleased though that he was healthy and looked so perfect.
in my mind i dont expect things to go right, then i am not disapointed. |
