Who is the live act that you will always remember?
Mine, I saw chilli opera at the Manchester City stadium. (Empty-ad )
But it was the supporting act that I was blown away with. The showmanship, the music his presence. And I will never ever forget the performance I saw from the one and only James Brown. Efin’ Brilliant.
What’s yours? |

"Bon Jovi at St Mary's Southampton "
Huge Bon Jovi fan here saw him years ago at MK bowl (May of been on the bounce tour) and he was awesome. When he done the residency at the 02 I think I ended up going to 5 or 6 of the shows but honestly after the 2nd I regretted buying tickets for the other dates. Honestly his voice just sounded shot to pieces |

I have seen many, some of whom were great for different reasons. The one that wins for me across the board - performance, lighting, staging, screening, banter, audience participation, and all those things - was Genesis in 1992. Luke |

Black Eyed Peas (4 Feb 1999)
Flew into Las Vegas from London and saw a billboard advertising a one-night-only concert by the BEPs after collecting our hire car and driving to The Four seasons Hotel.
Checked in at, maybe 4 pm, and the clerk asked if there was anything else that he could help us with. I said 'any chance of getting tickets for tonight's BEPs concert?'.
One telephone call and the concierge had secured two tickets for what was a tremendous performance in quite an intimate venue; Fergie singing whilst performing back-flips was amazing. |

honestly probably killing joke in Birmingham.
Hugh Cornwall was good as it was a very intimate gig in Cheltenham but very quiet (think village hall, everyone sat down the whole time).
worst was red hot chilli peppers....awful! |

Lionel Richie on the Pyramid stage Glastonbury 2015.
Absolutely brilliant being part of such a massive crowd, with the sun coming out after rain earlier in the afternoon.
Singing along to some classics surrounded by friends in the sun. Honestly magical! |

"Elbow were great
Seeing David Gilmour play Comfortably Numb is a great memory
Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Royal Albert Hall were amazing though "
Seeing David Gilmore play Comfortably Numb at the Royal Albert Hall was a massive highlight... even if I missed the first 10 mins of the gig due to cows on the line as I had to travel up after working in Devon.
Led Zep at Earls Court wasn’t bad either |

I've enjoyed some spectacular stadium gigs but probably the act I remember most fondly for its intimate setting and feeling that I was totally involved was seeing Portishead play at the Eve Club in London just after they released Dummy and just before they really took off. I was literally stood three foot away from Beth Gibbons as she sang, and the acoustics in such a small space were amazing. It really sent a shiver up your spine and was a very special night. |

REM at Milton Keynes in 1995 closely followed by Bush supporting Kaiser Chiefs supporting Bon Jovi at Hyde Park 2013 (free tickets after a fucked up hospitality gig for Bon Jovi at Etiahd Stadium) followed by Kaiser Chiefs at Elland Road in 2019. I have seen Kaiser Chiefs @13 times

Newcastle |
Stereophonics are a terrific live band & I very much enjoyed their last visit up north
Arctic Monkeys are a different beast live now too, compared to what they were, Turner has turned into ever the showman
However the most stand out recently for me was Fontaines DC at the O2 in Newcastle, absolutely terrific & Grian has so much of an Ian Curtis air to him. Superb. |

I was there and he was great!
Not my best ever though.
I was lucky enough to watch Linkin Park the first time they headlined at Download, from the side of the stage, that was pretty special |

I've seen so many that I've loved for different reasons, but The Rolling Stones had me grinning from ear to ear when I saw them a couple of years ago. I was in VIP at the front of the stage, it was a gorgeous summer day, they played an outstanding set and it was just a happy party atmosphere throughout the stadium |

Killing joke were the most surprising, I wasn't expecting much but they blew me away.
Gary Numan was excellent as well
For being consistently excellent though I'd say my faves are The Wedding Present |

"Mika
Odd choice but he's ace live."
Thats because he’s a performer. Some sing their songs. Some perform them fantastically.
I like good acts regardless wether I like their music. U2 for example, I am not a massive fan but can see how good their act is. |

I’ve been incredibly lucky to see a lot of artists thus far. I don’t care about cool points. If I like it, I like it.
Kylie Minogue. Damn that lass can put on a show and a smile on my face. I’ve seen her about 30 times and it’s always my best gig.
If I am regaining cool points then The Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge tour in Paris 1995. |

Smashing Pumpkins, Leftfield, Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine, Manic Street Preachers, Jesus and Mary Chain, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Gerry Cinnamon, Wolf Alice, Royal Blood, Arcade Fire
Have attended many gigs from the artists above and all have been fantastic events. |

So best voice was Theory of a Deadman as his voice is exactly like the album/singles.
Performance was 30 Seconds to Mars at the MEN as he got the crowd involved and was in the crowd a lot which must have drive security nuts.
Honourable mentions Foo Fighters, Seether and In This Moment

Gorillaz are up there for me. Saw them at the MEN arena and wow. Not so much stage presence but the visuals they have to go with the performance are incredible!
'Proper' live band wise, I'd probably say Feeder. Saw them at Kendal Calling Festival, main stage, a couple of years ago and they were awesome. |

His damn enterance!!!! About 30 people holding his cape. Seriously that was The Showmanship I can appreciate.
Chicks on speed was on from the start. (Google a YouTube video, it’s worth it) and it was something else. Chilli peppers even said something to the crowd about how disgusted he was that people were throwing bottles at them. . An experimental band doesn’t deserve that.
Chilli peppers didn’t play the Zephyr song. |

I genuinely think The phonics don’t get the credit they deserve. If anyone remembers their performance at the G8 gig? They were awesome and blue me away after all the pop before them. |

Mines is Slipknot, ZZ Top, Pink and American Head Charge. Great live acts but Pink trumped the rockers just with her sheer energy and effort |

Three stand out as they weren't bands I specifically went to see.
Vintage Trouble supporting The Who - seen them twice more and now a huge fan of them.
Reverend and The Makers at Camden Rocks.
The Rifles also at Camden Rocks.
Of those I did go specifically to see, Junior Walker & The All Stars and UB40 (long before they split) stand out. |

AC/DC were on the shortlist but Plant said no as he did not like them. They did support the Who at their wembley gig in the same year and month (August). Maybe that was the gig you meant? |

Saw a good live sex show put on by fm couple in Amsterdam some years ago now. They were an American couple and the guy was a muscle man. I went to the show with my girlfriend and she went up on the stage in response for volunteers to rub oil over his muscles. Unfortunately, it didn't go any further and he wasn't naked just had very small g string. I would have loved to have seen her at least wank him off if not suck him off. But she was led back to her seat by the girl after the oiling with applause from the audience. The couple then finished the act fucking while the stage rotated to give everyone a good view. We did have a chat with them later and they were a married couple we found out. |

Burt Bacharach with special guest Will Young and Elvis Costello (he put his phone on Burts piano, so his Mum could listen in) at Liverpool ‘pops’ concerts at the Docks, about 7 or 8 years ago.
I was almost in tears as everyone at the end was singing ‘raindrops keep falling on my head’.
To see a master at work is a memory I’ll cherish |
