Again, I'll point out that this joke is from a racist comedian and the joke is racial. Her interview contained the issue of racism within the royal family, she is a successfull woman and it is womans day and comments like that have no place on a site which is fully inclussive of all.

Not funny and very offensive.

It really is beautiful, relaxed or wig or natural. It's such a shame that there's such a prevalence of horrible comments surrounding a woman and her curls, even in this day and age. It's this unhealthy discourse that leads women like me to mask our natural hair for fear of ridicule, for not being seen as desirable - instead labouring for our hair to be Western and thus meet the approval of narrow minded idiots.

Honestly, if it’s not the blatantly racist comments today, it’s the sexist and derailing comments.

I’m sick of the guys on here with their ‘jokes’ and inability to express respect or just shut the hell up for a bit.

Sometimes I feel that there has been progress towards respect for all sexualities, genders and races, then others I think that humanity will just burn itself down

I'm a little baffled too, I doubt Oprah or I'm Wright give a dam.

I remember Ian Wright once referring to himself as a pint of guiness when snow fell on his hair.so now i am confused, does this make me a racist for finding it amusing or him a racist?please help!"

Are you actually asking the question to know or to just press the issue further? because it seems very much like the latter.

Clearly this is a sensitive subject for many people. Learning when to stop and go find something else to do or do your own research instead of expecting others to do your intellectual lifting would be good

"Well I care as Im being made out to be racist not that it even matters what anyone on here thinks but ya know

No. They are saying that the 'joke' is racist and mysogynistic, they never made any comment about you but you took offence to it even though you clearly don't care.

Please excuse my ignorance but could you please educate me by explaining how her race was insulted?

"Beautiful natural hair. Glad you can appreciate it OP

Is it natural though...I don't think so

You think it's a wig? Or relaxed hair as it's not tight curls? Could be I suppose but it's still beautiful.

It really is beautiful, relaxed or wig or natural. It's such a shame that there's such a prevalence of horrible comments surrounding a woman and her curls, even in this day and age. It's this unhealthy discourse that leads women like me to mask our natural hair for fear of ridicule, for not being seen as desirable - instead labouring for our hair to be Western and thus meet the approval of narrow minded idiots."

Don't go on YouTube, if you do avoid the "black manosphere", as they describe their clique, because the most disgusting, disrespectful comments I've read regarding black woman and their hair in particular have been made by black men.

No one can make you feel bad about yourself. They can highlight your own feelings of "inadequacy" but the root is within.

You make a good point.

A family member is in a mixed race relationship, they have two children one a light skinned, blond the other a very dark skinned, brunette. People ask, in front of the children if they have different fathers of it one of them is adopted. Is this racism or plain ignorant and rude stupidity? Would the same people ask a white European couple whose children had different hair colour and skin tone the same questions?

My mam got asked a lot if me and my sister had the same father or if we were adopted as I'm ginger and she's blonde. This was in the early 80's so you'd think this wouldn't be a question in this day in age. But my eldest is ginger, brown eyes and my youngest is blonde and blue eyes and the exact same questions have been asked about their parenthood.

Prince Harry's parentage is constantly called in to question because of his hair colour. I think rude people with no concept of what's appropriate will always make this sort of comment. Shortly after Mr N's mother died someone referred to his brother as a "cuckoo in the nest" .

People have selective memories. Just like they blame Meghan for lowering the tone of the royal family, conveniently forgetting such gems as It's a Royal Knockout, Charles wanting to be Camilla's tampon etc.

As for Meghan...she only identifies as a "woman of colour" when it suits her agenda.

Does Barnet mean hair? If so, the style wasn't to my taste - I prefer short and neat hair on a woman but I don't really care. "Yet another thread full of posters using their white privilege to decide what is or isn't offensive to black people. Come on guys, we're really not that petty - please stop making out that we are, you're just making divisions worse. The sad thing is, not one of you will ever recognise that projecting your racial frailties onto us is, in itself, offensive and on a far deeper level than you are prepared to realise.

But what about Opra’s Barnet?

Does Barnet mean hair? If so, the style wasn't to my taste - I prefer short and neat hair on a woman but I don't really care. My point was, that as a multi-millionaire media personality, she has as much right to be lampooned as any white multi-millionaire media personality, no matter her colour or gender."

I agrer with your comments.

Also there is a section of society ...and this is only an example who get offended if another race uses anything from another race. For instance some object to white women having dreadlock or certain styles of platted hair.

Now Opras hair is very much a European style...no one is having a go at her for approapriation of another races hair. I think that is quite right and if we are to embrace others cultures we should be flatteted for ANYone to use anything from their heritage..however this sometimes is not reciprocal. I hope ive explained my point ok

Why do you need to say it twice?

I’m all for people having opinions but I never understand why some are so desperate to repeat their opinion over and over.

You didn’t like it, that’s your right.

Oprah’s hairstyle wasn’t European. Black women and women of colour naturally have hair types just like that.

Strange you would think such a thing.

"Wow! "

OK.

Back to the original, unhijacked post.

I wasn't a fan. A bit too sculptural and contrived.

I think Oprah looks better with a softer hairdo x

Is this still going on?

Personally I find it a little odd that people are more inclined to discuss Oprah’s hair than the content of the interview.

I feel that it’s becoming a bit endemic how everything is up for grabs as a conversation point and actually detracts from the purpose of what’s being said. Almost like it is used to undermine the substance and credibility of the person.

If you don’t like her hair, that’s fine, you don’t have to have it like that, she chose to, that’s her prerogative.

The fact that it’s being used to undermine her in the ways seen above are definitely misogynistic in their tones.

I don't care about the interview because I'm not a royal watcher

Oprah is a bloody good interviewer to be fair, regardless of comments about her appearance.

Yes, that’s my point, the thread was about her hair style. It quickly became a race issue to some."

It HAD to become a race issue, because that makes the Woke brigade feel important and empowered.
