Title
Why is it that there has been a sudden interest in those of us who enjoy some SM in 'fabterms'?
Every type of play has its followers and everyone has to start somewhere BUT – Doms who can’t Dom are potentially dangerous! Subs who can’t sub are kidding themselves and all around them.
If you want to try, fine – you have to start somewhere, and that’s understood by the real players, so ask.
There are lots of forms of play – start slow – start safe! And beware the idiots!!!
For those who find or are shown 'the way' – welcome to the dark side! |

I was asked to dom a bloke a few years ago.
He bought me loads of bits and was even going to find me somewhere to start up properly. Had to own up that my heart wasn't in it. I'd rather be dommed |

Your post title kind of answers the question. As usual, as soon as something catches the imagination of the masses, it becomes mainstream and all of a sudden 'accepted'. The 50 shades books being the perfect example.
I've not read them but from what I understand, they're basically Mills and Book porn otherwise known as acceptable porn. I've seen women of all ages, denominations and types reading it on the train and its made S&M a mainstream topic. Its a 'romanticised' aspirational porn, helped by the fantasy of a muscular, handsome, dominant guy.
If the subject of the book was a checkout girl called Shirley and the Dom, a chubby bearded guy called Trevor from Bolton and and he was whipping her in the cellar of their terraced ex-miners cottage I'd GUARANTEE the book would never had made the slightest ripple.

not unless there were a flat cap and a whippet involved
I have to admit a penchant for reading the claims of the self-professed on some sites. There is a world of difference betwixt saying and doing.

This was my annoyance with this book in my thread the other week.
I always get messages from people asking for advice but recently even in normal day yo day world people are asking.
This will all blow up when someone gets hurt as without this book there were plenty of wannabe dominant guys that just want to hide behind the guise of a master to abuse women.
This book has given loads more victim's to these people.

Exactly ..... as with so much in life, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. |
