It's a lovely thought OP and I used to do, when I started here 10 years ago. But I encourage you to accept the block as a clean break, a clear message, so that you can put 100% of your energy elsewhere.
People have many reasons, magnified enormously during the pandemic, for putting their focus away from a new no strings contact - health, family, employment, finance, kids, bereavement and many other things that take priority.
By communicating with people you would be better to accept the terms that it's fully without obligation to get any further contact whatsoever. It is obligation and requirement free, apart from being respectful.
Managing your expectations is important and only something that you can do. Truly accepting the site terms is important, no reply equals no further interest. If you expect unrealistically and unreasonably, people will sense it and your attitude may cause what you resist |

Lots of people block for lots of reasons, and some times a conversation just fizzles out, sometimes a person doesn't take the hint. Etc etc
I block lots of people that don't meet what I'm looking for, I don't meet what they are looking for etc etc
I'd rather spend my time and efforts investing in people that are interested in me, than those that aren't  |

I don't see blocking as rude ever to be honest.
Yes sometimes it can be a bit confusing especially if you can't see a reason particularly if you've been chatting to someone but there will be a reason, You might not agree with it but actually people block for all kinds of reasons. |
