Since you started posting on these forums have you changed your approach in any way..

Are you more direct, less direct or the same.

Are you more or less sensitive to how you post

Are you more or less sensitive in how other people's post impact you

I have changed quite a bit I think, when I first started I was probably far more sensitive to others post, less direct in my reply and probably more jocular in posts and thread creation.

I used to post quite often. Now I get halfway through a post type what I want to say and then delete it.

I rarely post anymore.

Its odd but sometimes after getting my reply typed out I just don't feel the need to post it. I've got what I want to say out! Sometimes it's because I can't be bothered to get into the debate I know it will probably cause. Other times it's just the tone of the thread that puts me off.

Great post and made me think you ll be pleased to hear !

I think from watching other posters who are really funny and yet inoffensive (like Soapy used to be and like Laine) I may have modified the way I put things now. I am naturally quite direct but I realised that on here, without intonation, smiles, facial expressions and body language messages can easily be misread or taken as offensive even when they were meant to be friendly or funny; so I guess I am more careful now as I genuinely dont wish to hurt anybody's feelings.

little house on the praire

Im not sure to be honest, i just type what im thinking at that moment in time unless its a serious thread i want to post on then i think about it.

What does surprise me is the pms i get from people asking advice and telling me im well reasoned. But we all see our selves as different. My posts change from day to day, depending what frame of mind im in at the time

I 'think' I'm not as brash but I still take the piss in a joking manner, if it gets took another way then that is how the other person has misread it.

I think my posting style is largely a mix of :

a) reflections of my mood at the time

b) reactions to a comment made, be it negative or positive

c) genuine responses to queries, questions and requests for advice

d) out and out mickey taking, and

e) banter with friends and forumites alike

So, yes it has changed and will continue to change, sometimes consciously but more often than not sub consciously.

It is a dymanic, not a static feature of my site usage.

Great thread btw View

Don't think I've changed much. Probably post more now than I used to originally!

I still use as much humour and the occasional bit of sarcasm but now avoid the 'help with my profile' and 'why can't I' type posts!

Must be working as haven't had a ban in ages!!!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I try to type what I think less, due to a couple of time outs over the last year

I avoid political threads like the plague, and avoid engaging certain forum members, whereas before I might have stayed up arguing and gone to bed mad. Life is too short to argue with internet strangers.

I've changed since the beginning, a lot less hasty with my posts. Funny ones I love, serious ones I enjoy...and when mood takes me I'll post.

Also, just Like you and Ms Purple,I have wrote out many a post and thought "nah, I've got it out now so no point" and delete it.

I read the forums every day and I love them for the variety of subjects discussed...

Of course not - ask away!!!

Part of me thinks if you're not capable of creating a profile yourself that portrays you in a positive manner and clearly states what you're looking for, tells a bit about you and contains enough info and pics to attract interest - then getting someone else to do it for you defeats the object of being on a site such as this! It either means you probably won't be able to communicate on a social level face to face, or are just looking for a quick and easy way to get meets!

As for the 'why can't I' threads - the above probably explains a lot - and if you don't have the ability to sit back and reflect on your profile content, style of communication and the image you're portraying - again - seeking advice will tend to get people to change their profile and actions to suit what they think people want to see, in order to boost their chances of meets, rather than just being themselves - thus running the risk of dissapointing others during meets - and creating a vicious circle where by acting in a manner unnatural to themselves online, they can't continue the fakery in reality - and will then continue to struggle!

God - that was a bit serious for me!!!
