Hello everyone, first time I have posted on here. Does anybody else think the free access should be limited on here for non site supporters to stop all the fake profiles and wannabes? The people who clog up inboxes with utter rubbish (mainly womens) the average lady gets about 400 messages in the first few days and most are deleted. It runs it for genuine supporters getting lost in the sea of messages.

Personally nope it’s fine as it is and should stay a free site.
Time wasters as far as I’m concerned can waste their time as much as they want but they will never ever waste ours because the way we approach our fab adventure doesn’t allow them too.

I don't think it should be members only, but I do think you should have to prove ID, same as a club. Utilities bill and photo ID alongside photo verification.

It could be asking for another Ashley Madison style hack and who decides which admin are to be trusted enough to see people's personal information and be trusted with that knowledge ?

It's easier for some people to pass the blame rather than up their game.
A lot of fakes can be spotted with a bit of due dilligence but a lot of men think with their co.ks and message "18yo virgin supermodels looking for older men" type profiles and wonder why they get asked for money blah blah blah.

What data do you have that shows......
a) It's the non members that send all the messages that clog up 'ladies' boxes ?
b) It's the non members that are timewasters ?
c) That paid members don't do all that you've said above.
d) That non paying members only write rubbish ?

If ALL of the non payers left. There'd be NO ONE for anyone to shag in any case.
People are not prettier because they paid their pennies.
I used to be a site supporter and as i'm a supportive type I still would be but something happened that stopped me paying and I won't start paying again and NO it's not lack of income. |

Filter out non site supporters.
Filter out those who you don't want messages from. ie single men
I'm a single woman. I get very few messages.
I use the tools the site gave me.
I have none of your problems.

The *only* person that could ruin the site for me OP is myself - if it doesn't meet my expectations then it's down to my expectations being wrong, not because other users have impacted my experience.
Yes, women get inundated with messages, but they are also able to take steps to limit that and work out who are the guys they'd like to meet.

The real truth is it is tough for everyone, solo guys, solo females and couples. Those that take a superior attitude to others. Solo guys will always get a hard time - it is the nature of the beast.
People are here for many reasons, and internet has made it more accessible, not all with good intentions.
Decide on what your actually looking for and concentrate your search there, it may take a while but patience and polite persistence seem to be the key.

Just to clarify, the meets were before lockdown, I'm just interested in the points, it's not about the money I speak to people on here who are fed up of getting bombarded with messages from timewasters etc so I just wanted to get a feel for the general overview on this. |

I deleted my long time profile a long with friends regulars because of Fab being full of fakes scammers pimps!
I re joined but now seriously considering deleting again forever and I refuse to pay membership as all the real genuine folk have left.
The answer is not a menbers only fab but a new site to rival fab with very strict protocol who can enrol.

The above is on the log in page. Fab is a free site. Once you join you have the tools to prevent new profiles, non members etc from messaging you and the option to become a site supporters if you wish. This gives everybody the opportunity to only allow interaction with other site supporters if that's how they want the site to work for them. Other people want it to be free and they have that option too.
We personally would never send copies of utility bills to any web site or any other identifying information.
There are paid members only sites, we've used a few of them. We found there were more time wasters on them than we've ever encountered on fab.
My personal advice to anybody is, set your message filters, be aware that if a profile seems too good to be true it probably is (so if a gorgeous, leggy 20 year old contacts you saying she's desperate to fuck and will you tell her exactly what you want to do to her, be a bit suspicious), then relax, don't take it too seriously and enjoy.  |

It might be better if new members were set up with the default settings on filters being set to 'on'.
Let them explore the site, before being deluged in messages.
And they would have to learn how the site works, to lower the filters. |

I definitely think it would get rid of some of the chancers and wanking dead brigade, if they had to pay.
I can’t believe a non site supporter can email others...I don’t think any other ‘dating’ site offers that, which is why there’s so many on here.
We get FAF messages often from new profiles...then they disappears after hours...surely that takes up server space.

No I don't think the site should just be site supporters I wasn't one until a month or so after I joined and I knew I would stay.Making it site supporters would just stop genuine people from joining as well .
As for women getting 400 messages that's what filters are for of you don't want messages you tighten them up so you don't get as many .
It's also a line used as an excuse to not answer people as well .

I don't think being a site supporter would stop the shit inbox clogging bollocks. I've been here 5 years now and as much as it pains me to admit it, those messages are "the norm"
Someone being a site supporter won't automatically change their thought process and how they interact. They lack social skills and common sense and unfortunately you can't buy that for a fiver a month.
I have said though I completely agree that you should need to prove who you are to join, whether that be free or site supporter. People *may* stop and think about catfishing, abuse and consequences if they were to be held personally accountable for their actions instead of hiding behind the annonimity of a profile with no paper trail other than an email address.
We've all heard stories of people getting mugged or worse at meets. |
