I recieved a phone call from a withheld number today (on my mobile), i think it was a malicious call although i didn't realise at the time. Is there anyway to find out the number ? |

There and to the left a bit |
If you Google a number you can sometimes get a match from sites like "Who Called Me" but it tends to be call centre type places it matches to as opposed to personal numbers - that said if the person has any on-line presence where their number is used you might match it that way. |

"Sorry, completely misunderstood the question No, I don't think you can."
D'oh and so did I - without knowing the number no you can't unless it's the kind of malicious call worthy of reporting to the Police and then they have ways of tracing it via your mobile provider but may not reveal the identity of the caller to you. |

If something was said that's illegal then report it to the police and let them investigate it. |

Just block withheld numbers.
If you don’t know they’re a calling then they can’t hurt you.
I never answer the phone to any numbers that my phone doesn’t recognise.
I’m very happy. |

No, it wasn't a scam type call. It was someone pretending to be an official, i was expecting them to call this week so i presumed it was them. However it turned out that the official had called my sibling instead. |

I can't block or ignore withheld numbers at the moment as i am helping to organise something and i presumed it was a call to do with that. |

Oh ok. I think you're probably going to have to put this one down to experience |

They’re usually just telesales and marketing. There is a way to stop them if you Google that as a search term.
Another tactic if it continues is to ask your service provider to activate anonymous call barring, or maybe if the option exists for it direct from your handset.
The police can go back and find the number out, but you’d have to report a crime to get them to do that and provide a statement.
You’d need some evidence that it wasn’t just a telesales call though, because for them to go down that route is quite time and resource consuming, so the police would consider telesales calls better dealt-with by your service provider.
I refuse to answer blocked private callers on my phone, so they either leave a message if they’re legit and I call them back, or they don’t, I don’t call them back and I block them.
Honestly though, it sounds like you’ve nothing to worry about and not letting the telesales people get to you is the way forward. That’s your best response.

Yeah I read that after I posted *facepalm*.
If you can’t sort it by your phone provider abs it’s not a scam that’s nation wide I’d call the police. They may refer you to Action Fraud if it’s a targeted attempt to get money from you. They’re also aware of what the National fraud picture is too so can give you some good crime prevention advice. If it’s just phone calls and not face to face it’s easily dealt with OP, honestly nothing to worry about.
I’ve invested in one of those video doorbell things. One of the best things I’ve ever done. Both reassuring and useful if anyone ever did try to turn up in my door step. If you want to get a door bell, just my opinion but the best I’be to get right now would be by a company called Eufy. But definitely block any unwanted calls! That’s easy done x |

Thanks for the advice.
It wasn't fraud or a scam in the general way.
It was possibly someone that i know, pretending to be an official that i was expecting to call over the past week x |
