Finally leaving an houseshare to a Derwent living flat soon got the keys just moving stuff in and getting my carpets on Friday.. Its big leap as I got stuck the cheap houseshare trap for far too long.

At one time it was perfect as I used to spend 3-4 months in Bulgaria now that's changed and no longer need to be sharing 1 bathroom between 4 other people and fighting for the kitchen (because of covid) and one guy who as about 3 showers per day.

Yes it's a dilemma I know that.

I house share and it's cheap and I'm financially comfortable but is it the same as having your own place , its down to what you want more I guess .

Good luck OP

Well I been house sharing for about 13 years, yes is definitely cheaper when all bills are included and it was this that put me off getting my own place gas, electricity, council tax, water and Internet. But its with Derwent living and will get help with universal credit since I am on low income, I have enough to pay the rent and bills but will about just over £100 left per month. So it was a huge leap for me.

But got the new carpet down, got a nice TV stand and getting a 2nd hand hardly used washing machine next week.. So getting there bit by bit

Sounds like you’re getting sorted. If you speak to Derwent Living there maybe a grant you can apply for to help with the cost of white goods or furniture.
