Buy some decent headphones and download loads of music, podcasts and audiobooks. I find the the pressure of the over the ear ones make the world of difference. Not sure there’s any science behind that, purely my experience |

Yep I do. And in the last couple of years become extra sensitive to loud or sharp noises to the extreme.
I tried some ear inserts I saw advertised as helping it but they didn't work, they made my tinnitus worse. Like someone else said, playing the radio quietly when sleeping helps, or you can get an app on your phone that plays all kinds of noise, from white, brown to pink noise, they have different tones so you can find the one that you prefer. Basically background noise drowns the tinnitus out. |

Mine seems to be getting worse. I know there's no cure, but has anyone who's suffering with it done anything that can improve it?
Any tips would help! "
Hearing aids helped me although they’re not for everyone. I am slightly deaf at the higher frequencies so apparently the brain makes its own high frequency. Weird I know, but when fitted with hearing aids adjusted to enable me to hear high frequencies, the tinnitus disappeared within 24 hours. Like I said, it doesn’t work for everyone. I was lucky. |

I have it and have no real advice on how to deal with it, other than just ride with it. I’ve suffered with it for 11 years now and I find the very rare moments when i have no noises going on harder to cope with. |

Had it since I was 16 when my cousin fired a shotgun very close to my ear, since then I spent years clubbing and going to some of the loudest gigs possible and listening to loud music through earphones, and as a squaddie loud bangs come with the job. I really haven't done my ears any favours! I don't notice it unless I'm in a perfectly quiet room though, then it's like a constant whistling sound. It doesn't really bother me that much unless I tune into it. |

Yeah I Think mine is very much self inflicted. All the Status Quo gigs didn't help either! |

I'm managing to cope too, it's just so infuriating! |

Yeah got it, there some vids on YouTube that show you how to help relive it, with rubbing certain parts of your head.

Have you had it checked out properly with a brain scan? |

"A company called flare audio claims to do some earbuds that reduce it a bit but I've not tried them myself. "
These are the ones I tried, they are made for people with sensitive hearing and a side effect of using them for some is it helps tinnitus, they made mine worse, but they were good at refunding once I sent them back, they do accept returns. |

Don't Go Back to Sexville |
I've got the pulsatile type. I can hear my heart beat constantly. Had a scan and in my case it's not caused by anything bad so I just resolved to get over it. That's not to say that you should just get over it. I just found it much easier to deal with when I knew there was nothing serious about it. So, maybe get it checked out and you can relax a bit more. |

Hi O.P. I have tinnitus.
I went to the specialists about 3 years ago .......
He gave me some leaflets and the name of a tinnitus group to join.....
Which I think it specialise for 'hard luck' , 'live with it' .....
I did hear or read of an app for your phone which can assist...... Maybe you could do a search for it
I'm just living with mine for now. Maybe I don't have it bad enough to be active about it. |

Oh O.P. .........
The specialist gave me a hearing test and concluded that I could hear everything except the uber uber top notes....
So ..... beats me. I can hear and i'm supposed to think the whistles n whoops n wushes are a bonus ?
I didn't go for hearing loss, I went for tinnitus. |

I have it too.
As a result I never let it be quiet in my house. I can sometimes hear the whistle over everything though. Like now; probably because your post made me notice it again. |

I've got it really badly and it's got worse since I've started having more problems with my wisdom teeth.
There is a link and my dentist agreed the other day. Just gotta wait to have the dodgy teeth out and see if it helps. |

I bought some of these for my Mum who suffers greatly from this condition. I wanted to try anything to help her. Unfortunately these were a complete waste of money and hope! They are not cheap either. She said they made no impact at all on her tinitus. |

I've had mine for about 13 years, the silence is deafening,an anxiety attack brought it on, a very high pitched constant wine 24/7,it got so bad I actually contemplated taking my own life, it was a terrible time, it still is some days, not much point to this post but there you go |

It's truly horrific, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy |

Its horrendous...but it varies in how bad it is.
14yrs in the military (Infantry). Initially we never wore amplivox (ear defenders). Im paying for it now.
And as a regular gig-goer, i usually pay for it for the month or so afterwards. |

As an ex-Audiologist it is somewhat ironic that I have tinnitus. I developed it for 3 days after a Hawkwind concert and when it disappeared I thought nothing of it. One New Year's eve gig in the eighties brought it back, this time permanently. As is recommended, I learnt to live with it and was doing fine until a couple of years ago when I attended a Fine Young Cannibals concert. Big mistake. It is now a lot worse and I can hear it over the T.V.
As some previous posters have said, there is no proven cure but tinnitus maskers worn behind the ear can help, as can having a radio on but not tuned to a station when in bed can help. I can empathise and as tinnitus can be a symptom of something else, if it occurs without being able to pinpoint the cause, it is worth investigating. |

I used to suffer pretty badly by it when it was constant ringing unexpectedly. It was more often when laying down just coming on, I noticed when I had decided to get back into training it actually became less than usual. So I'm guessing that it could be due to poor circulation but neck exercises have helped |
