As a kid I always fantasised about finding a box full of abandoned kittens (or puppies) and taking them home to raise.
I still do now, a little bit, tbh, but no joy as yet.
Don't think my two house cats would be overly impressed tho.
Has anyone ever done this?
Or found and raised any other random animals?

Befriended a dog that lived over the back yard when I was younger. German Shepard, female, such a beautiful dog but it was aggressive/territorial. When the ball went over as a 7/8 year old it felt like life or death to get it back lol.
Anyways one day I dont know why I decided to do this but I gave it some biscuits from the house and from then on it was always welcoming and came up to the fence to be petted. |

My late Pooch was dumped in a box out in the cold with his siblings when just a few weeks old and I saved him . Rehomed the others , and gave him a happy 5 years on this earth I'd like to think |

My beloved childhood cat and absolute best mate was rescued from a KwikSave bag chucked in a nettle bush by my aunts dog. She had 2 siblings which my aunt (who loved next door) kept one and gave the other away.
She lived until she was 18. Her brother passed away the week after.
If I ever found a bag of little living cats I’m afraid I’d keep them all and fulfil my crazy cat lady destiny. The little dog wouldn’t be impressed though.

Me and my friend used to save mice from the cat. Made a lovely(probably not in the mouse opinion though) home for it in a plastic bucket with some straw, twigs and hay, even gave it some horse feed to snack on. Every single time we were surprised it had disappeared the next day

Like most, I had always dreamed about it, and then one day on my way home from school, I spotted a box that was rattling... Went and had a look and there was the loveliest little black kitten inside!
I took her home filled with hope, only for my parents to point-blank refuse the idea of having a cat and they had her collected by a rescue the same day.
I was heart-broken! So as a child, that definitely didn't work out, and as Bradley is severely allergic to cats, that would rule out kittens now, but if we were to find a puppy...

"When I lived in a Spanish village I had several boxes of kittens and puppies left outside. Kept those I could and rehomed the rest with difficulty. "
Aah. We had a cat that adopted us when we were kids, it just turned up and never left.
It had to work a charm offensive on my dad, he held out for about a fortnight but finally gave in |
