I'm planning on moving from way up north Scotland to West Manchester area. I've done quite a bit of research but any insider info or new places I should look into would be gratefully received.
Essentially I'm wanting easy links to Manchester and possibly Liverpool so looking to the areas around there. My job doesn't really dictate area too much. I love getting out with my dog so green space nearby would be a plus so I don't have to drive somewhere all the time. Thinking west of Manchester as I can't be too far from the sea but being on the coast might be a bit too far from Manchester. If its a special area I might be tempted though
Not the 'normal' forum topic I know but with all these wonderful people full of knowledge, I'd be stupid not to try and gain some information whether on thread or PM if preferred. Thank you in advance lovely people
Happy Sunday |

This is super exciting OP, I haven't got any suggestions for you but wish you good luck.

Oh thank you Saffron. Sort of looking everywhere from Manchester to Liverpool. I do like more of a village or town vibe, or outskirts maybe. Just happy to be able to get to a shopa and a pub |

Thats the main draw as I love the fact I could get to Liverpool or into Manchester or even London depending on my mood. I guess the main question is is there any areas you would particularly avoid? I know everywhere is going to have good parts and bad but is there any that you just pass by as fast as you can? |

After living in the north of scotland it wouldnt be manchester for me.
Yes I was living near the sea as well whilst there and to be honest it was flat and boring after a while.
I missed the hills the scenery of home |

You will be nearer
I can’t help with specifics only been that way a couple of times, I have a mate in Glossop which is in the peaks I think, but the east side of Manchester (15 miles out).
Good luck with it all and I’m sure you’ll find something lovely x |

I don't actually mind the rain so much to be honest. Always have a jacket on me as my mummy taught me |

Very tempting and that was the plan about 5 years ago until family needed more help so feel I need to be a bit closer to them. But I'll definitely be spending more time down there and Cornwall aswell |

I'm happy with any beach from sandy to rocky or covered in sea. Alsong as I can sit and watch the sea
But I will definitely have a look thank you |

Thornton or Crosby
Both have Liverpool post codes.
10 mins in car from beaches
5 mins from M57 M62 40 mins to Manchester.
Both have green spaces
Both are not far from Formby , Southport and the fave Glasgow hotspot Blackpool
Both not far from Aintree Racecourse and good shopping areas.
Both 6/7 miles outside of Liverpool

Traffic into Manchester is getting worse. I'd consider a location near to decent rail links for Manchester, rather than face daily motorway gridlock.
Granny has mentioned some great places for the coast. Parts of Warrington and Lymm are handy for both cities.
Good luck OP. |

Same as Scotland "
I'd say parts of Scotland are worse!! Language has never been something that has bothered me. I had a friend that swears as punctuation which I know many people don't like but he never means it in a nasty way and is genuinely the most harmless guy ever |

Well you have to make the decision for you and best not to rush it. I have been thinking about the move for a while and hate leaving family and friends but as my dad keeps telling me - I need to live for myself |

Have you looked along the A580 and just off? This is the main A-road between the two cities. Good luck! |

I've spent the last few months looking for a house in another country. You get to 'know' the area and can refine your search the more you learn about a place.
Satellite view was also useful. You can quickly find out that the ideal house is actually really close to something undesirable so best to look in a different area. |

South Devon was the original plan 5 years ago but had to change them slightly unfortunately
