"use the car runing around to and from different houses lm a support worker and lm not sure about the looks something abit sporty looking "
have a look at citroen ds3's too
you should be able to get a 2nd hand one on a 10 or early 11 plate for around £10k which should also have some of the warranty left
the 1.6 petrol is the same engine as in the mini
had mine for about 18 months and had no probs at all bar a problem with the aircon which was sorted under the warranty |

"Mini diesel will look funky and be frugal
I tend to stay away from French cars, generally bad reliability
Reliability wise, Honda are top and civic is pretty wild looking with great residuals "
Oh I disagree - I've had peugeots for some years now and always been pleased with them |

"I know wat ur sayin about French cars to be honest if I had ten grand I.d by a golf every time x"
I've got to say of all the cars I've had (and there's been a few), the Golf Gti was the best.
Sadly it was a company car so had to back when I handed my notice in.
My current car is definately up there in 2nd place though. |

Toyota Yaris....
"
for that money you should even be able to find a toyota prius ... if you find a 3rd gen "T4" spec you get almost all the gimmicks in the "t-spirit"... great mpg and only a group 6 for insurance... and free road tax |

the new corsa is great we had the mini but god she was a pain to run fuel wise had the corsa 3 weeks now brilliant little car just had 2 new tyres and they were both cheaper than one of the minis and i use half less fuel too for the same job xx |

"I'm getting the new Peugeot 208 in October - 1.2 but has v8 engine so poky and the tax is only £20 a year - get in!! "
Most engines are 8valve (2 valves per cylinder on a 4 cylinder engine) so sorry to spoil it for you.
16 valve engines are more sporty
Also many peugeots are built in this country and are not technically French
I love Hondas and fords
VW also make very well built cars if you can't afford a golf or polo take a look at Skoda fabia or seat Leon or Ibiza models same mechanicals but a bit cheaper.
In my time in the motor trade , even the worst ford focus still drove brilliantly
Another good but cheaper alternative to a golf |

You can get alot of car for that amount of wonga!!
Just have to look around.
Best bet, look on autotrader.co.uk.
Have you thought bout Fiat 500 / Abarth are quite a nice looking cars?
Vauxhall, Peugeot & VW are doing gd deals on new cars at the mo. Ok so there on finance, but pay off few instalments then just pay it all off, or if you change your mind give it back. |

if the OP was looking in the direction of a mini then the fiat 500 looks like it would be a great shout....
the only thing I have against small cars is they can be impracticle at times.... unless you have a family of dwarves... lol
that why i love my roomy car!! |

Im also not a fan of small cars, prefer big, juicy, expensive, throaty sounding powerful engines, lots of leccy gizmos & toys and not always into like the newest, latest cars either, the old faithful classics are just as luxurious, in there own personal charming ways.
But sometimes when the shit hits the fan, small, cheap & cheerful has to fit the bill. Oh that reminds me to buy a chance of £110,0000.00 Euro lottery tonight!!! Mmmmm think of all the things that could buy, or help out, eg. family, friends, luxury houses, cars, holidays, pay off all debts, give to charities, invest in ...... well the list goes on & on .... |
