...To comment on a thread started by someone who has blocked you?
Just curious on people's thoughts really. Assuming the comment was either nice or just a simple response to the thread (nothing unpleasant of course!)
What's the consensus? Do you do it? Do you check? |

Different people seem to use the block facility in different ways and I’ve been blocked by people I’ve had no interaction with, so would still be happy to post on their threads. |

Yes but you can find out by clicking on a profile... And if you knew, would you then continue to comment on that person's threads? |

Mainly people who have blocked me comment on threads. Shame you can't block them from the forum because that usually why I block someone if they come across as a nasty piece of work on here |

Most of my blocks are due to their arrogance or simply because I didn't like their comment. |

No.
I block folk for all sorts of reasons, could be too close etc or they said something unpleasant on another thread that made me wary of them.
I comment on threads that interest me. I don’t comment to get around blocks or anything. An interesting thread is an interesting thread.

..To comment on a thread started by someone who has blocked you?
Sod etiquette which is subjective - the forum rules ( rule for all ) SAY.....
Do not use the forum to try to contact someone e.g get around a block. ( loosely )
If someone comments on a thread but isn't directly trying to contact someone else on the thread ABOUT something else....... then that's not stipulated as against forum rules.

If I had been blocked for legitimate reason then probably just best keep away, if I’m completely unaware and find out I have and for no reason, I’d still talk on forums just directed to others probably |

I think it's fine to block messages but I don't think it's fine to try and eradicate the person you have blocked from forum existence.
I'm not speaking to anyone in particular btw .... just answering the Q |

Rules aside, no I don't think so. Sometimes the person starts an interesting thread or they are a very active thread starter and you don't want to be left with one out of a hundred you can reply to.
It depends on the topic as to if I reply or not - if it's something that interests me then sometimes I will, sometimes I won't. |

If there is real dislike there and I've blocked them then I won't even open their threads to comment on.
I'm sure there are plenty that have blocked me that I'm unaware of and I ain't gonna start checking every OP just in case. |

I don’t think I’ve blocked any forum user or know any that’s blocked me...
But if that was the case I personally wouldn’t reply to their thread, if they replied to mine as long as they’re not trying to get around the block and on topic it’s all good |

P.S. I don't block anyone. I have in the past blocked persistent men who are obviously mentally impaired and have no understanding or memory. I don't want to reason with them or upset them.

"If they are unhappy about your comments on their thread they would probably just report you and you would know to avoid the threads from then on "
Can they report someone for simply commenting on a thread ?
They are not trying to contact anyone on the thread they are just using the thread.
I think that type of reporting isn't useful. To anyone. |

Depends why you're blocked. If you don't get on then it's usually best just to avoid each other so I don't think commenting on their threads is the best idea. If you have no idea why you are then I'd just carry on as before. Some people just use blocking as a filtering method for searches or to stop themselves forgetting and trying to message you again if you've not responded.
No I don't check if I'm blocked before replying to forum posts. |

If I see a thread I want to contribute too then I will contribute blocked or not, but then I never check profiles of the thread starters to see if I'm blocked anyway and I'm not going to start checking either.

I've no idea who has me blocked and who doesn't so I'm not going to go hunting around to work out if I should post or not.
As for those where there has been a fall out or you know you don't get on, I generally won't post on their thread just in case it is seen as me having a dig at them and with some people they're best just avoided altogether.
There is currently too much falling out on the forums as it is and away from it too, adding to it just makes things worse for everyone in a place where we all come for some fun and light relief. |

Nah. I don't always block people because they've annoyed or angered me. A lot of the time it's because I'm simply not interested and don't want them to contact me again. I also block the kind of profiles/pics that turn me off so I don't have to see them in my updates list. And then there are some that just make me uncomfortable and I don't want them to be able to view my profile.
TL;DR - no. |

I did it just the other day. There is a simple explanation for why that person blocked me and it’s not because we fell out. Very long story. |

If I’ve been blocked out of respect I wouldn’t usually post.
If I’ve blocked them I don’t have a problem with them posting in my thread, and If it’s interactive I may respond with a polite reply
Blocks aren’t always down to dislike, sometimes I just dont get along with that person but most of mine are due to cocks pics |

If I’ve blocked them because they’ve shown themselves to being transphobic, homophobic, racist or have extreme right wing views, then whatever they’ve posted will probably be of little interest to me. I’m not going to help their thread get any interest, by posting on it. So hopefully it dies and goes to page 2 and oblivion. |

We block people to avoid them appearing in searches where they have indicated a lack of interest.
It doesn't mean we don’t like them or wouldn’t chat socially, including replying to forum threads. |

I don't think it is. As long as you aren't trying to get around the block to ask to meet them, it's allowed.
But, if someone is just trying to aggravate the people who have blocked them it's petty and not good etiquette, in my opinion.
I've quoted people in the past, not knowing they had blocked me.

Forum rules aside I don't see any reason why anyone shouldn't comment on *any* thread they like if they think they have something to add to it.
I think the etiquette may come down to the individual thread or the motivation for posting though - if it were very specifically *about* the OP and it were someone who has blocked me, or even that I didn't have time for, then I'd avoid.
Likewise if the motivation *for* posting (rather than not posting) was *because* of who the OP was - then it's probably best left.
General threads and interest in the subject being the motivation though, then I don't see the issue. |

To the OP , I wouldn't know who had us blocked unless I look at their profile so I could be speaking on many threads where people have blocked us
What we have to remember is, everyone is allowed to post on whatever thread they like , even if blocked by another. The only thing you can't do is do it to get around mail blocks/ filters, for example ask them to unblock you or ask why they have blocked you etc. If you don't want to converse with them on the forum too then ignoring is the best option.
Another thing to remember is, you may start the thread but it isn't yours, it is then there for anyone to post on within rules |

Is that the only reason to look, I usually look cause I want to see who’s causing the ruckus and to see what they’re all about. Also sometimes I look if I spot tiles and I want to check out the grouting. |

If you right click on their profile pic in the thread and do 'open picture' it opens larger and you can check their tiles that way. |
