A woman who fancied me on a straight dating site told that she was into heavy metal. As the attraction was not mutual, I asked her if she owned a scrap yard, or did she go around the houses picking it up in a Ford Transit pick up. Guess what, she blocked me. Some people have no sense of humour. |

Think I would have blocked you too..you're making the assumption that what you said was funny...it wasn't! |

I wouldn’t say that I was strictly a metalhead. I find the vast majority of metal slightly cringe worthy, to say the least. That being said, I certainly have a fondness for:
Botch
Every Time I Die
The Chariot
Coalesce
Converge
Narrows
Norma Jean’s album “O, God! the Aftermath”
And then the heavier side of Alternative, like:
At The Drive-In
Drive Like Jehu
Swing Kids
Glassjaw

Been a "metal head" since I was at school the hair has gone now but still like the same music, I tend to listen to black metal and drone doom now with a bit of stoner rock
But still dip into the old school stuff now and again |

I always thought that Thrice had a bit more about them than other bands at that time.
I re-broke my plaster casted arm at a System Of A Down gig. Sh*t was wild!

Metallica with Queensryche opening. And Justice for all! West Palm Beach. We left before everyone tore the seats up and trashed the Auditorium. They banned Metallica for it. |

Oh it was for the first two albums... That's how Maiden could have been, alas, too much drink.
I saw The number of the Beast tour and had it on picture disc... And the best thing was the support. Budgie |

Yep.
I probably lean more towards ska and punk and a bit of emo but generically say I like heavy metal.
I like more what I'd call melodic metal rather than grindcore or death metal.
Anything that's heavy for the sake of it, bores me. |

I bought the first Slipknot album when it first came out. Played it once. Decided there was possibly some childhood trauma involved so put it away, in case my children heard it. Roll on quite a few years and my children and I went to download, ostensibly for Rammstein and iron maiden but slipknot headlined Friday and were the best act... |

Most knackering concert i went to was Metallica supported by, Megadeath and Alice in Chains. Wasn't too into really heavy stuff pitching it more Guns N Roses, Black Crowes, NIN, Nirvana, Iron Maidon kind of range then loving all the glam rock music too. First concert i went to was Bon Jovi at Hammersmith Odeon. |

So the first mainstream band I ever saw were the dead kennedys. OK so I know not metal but the second band was iron maiden. I think it was the Hammersmith odeon, definitely on the powersl**e tour, and it was all seating if I recall. I seem to remember being escorted back to my seat after getting out of it and standing (OK dancing) in the aisle.... |

We bounce in and out metal mood dependant. We also have no idea what constitutes heavy metal over normal metal!
Have seen Rammstein, Disturbed, Slipknot, Volbeat, Iron Maiden, Thunder and many more.
Rammstein’s shows are insane! |

Slayer at the now defunct Astoria two nights in a row it was my birthday on the second night, they played reign in blood in it's entirety on the second night, I walked out of both nights literally dripping in sweat and then a two hour train journey home |

Nice to know that I managed to make someone smile today. And of course her block, like any blocks on here that occur, left me so distressed and distraught, perplexed and bemused, amazed and astounded to the extent that insomnia set in! All the best.

Which album completely changed your musical direction?
For me, it was We Are The Romans by Botch. I was already into heavy music at the time - I was probably the only kid in school who had 70’s punk mixtapes done by his uncle. But the first few bars of the first song, To Our Friends In The Great White North, blew my mind! I had heard syncopated and polyrhythmic music before, but such an obvious and aggressive form of conflicting time signatures was just so revelatory that everything before Botch sounded so tame and uninteresting. The way that Dave Verellen barked and shouted his lyrics was so naturally done when compared to some put-on and affected singers’ voices, too.
The album, and subsequently the band, just completely changed what I looked for in music, and my appreciation of musicians, especially drummers, was changed forever. |
