Police getting some bad press in Devon and Corwall today...
Two policemen caught framing a man after a call to a d*unk and disorderly shout, the man appealed with video evidence. Police sacked but not prosecuted.
Second one, policeman in Launceston, had oral sex with a female victim of crime in the station toilets, then took her to a place of safety and told her to contact him on fabswingers...
Imprisoned for 10 months.
Not sure the two that stitched the guy up should have got away without prosecution. Every case they gave evidence in should be being questioned.
Google should find you the news items. |

What is it like on the Isle of Dogger Gatsby?
Now for something lighthearted.
Ron the bull managed to wipe out a village of electric because of scratching his itchy bum on a pylon.
Ron remained unaware of the drama but the village remained powerless for 6 hours!

The O.P. can post what they like. The forum lounge is for general chat.
BUT......... it yanks my chain as the vast majority of police are to be commended for all they do under ordinary circumstances never mind covid circumstances.
Where are the threads praising the efforts of the vast majority of the police ?
If two or three nurses got bad press would the whole of the NHS , every nurse , every doctor be slagged off on here ?
I doubt it.
Those that just slag off the whole force are usually those that make their life from crime. That's crime against you. |

Totally agree, and Police are not yet eligible for the vaccine either so the pressures are on, nobody has been out clapping for them working under extreme circumstances
How demoralising and upsetting this thread is for serving Officers to see, especially if they had just finished a long shift and come up against god knows what, stuff we just have no clue for.
Empathy and kindness cost nothing...

What a completely ridiculous statement. So you won't be shouting for assistance when you're robbed, burgled, stabbed or involved in a serious collision. Small minded and pathetic. |

"Fuck the police every one of them is corrupt "
People have such short memories.
Its them that run towards situations that would naturally make any ordinary person run the opposite way.
There will always be some corruption, power corrupts, but the majority are just doing their job. |

There's 'bad apples' in every job
The Police in this country do the best they can within constraints (legal & budgetary)
My dealings with them have always been positive & respectful, even when it was I that was in the wrong |

So by your reckoning and the way you use the same brush to tar every Officer.
Does that make you a Murderer ? along with every other person from Fraserburgh.
Dennis Nilsen was born in Fraserburgh on November 23, 1945. |

For those that slate every police officer, I'd like to remind you that when a terrorist incident takes place most of us run away with fear while most of them run at danger with nothing more than a baton.. the bravery that many of them show is amazing. |

"Fuck the police every one of them is corrupt " Try living in SE Asia, you will find some corrupt police then. Most of the one in this country are decent and only have their hands tied due to finace and piss poor law makers.
You will always find a small minority of bad apples in any job, including mine.
generaly, the police are running towards the trouble not away from it including while their is a world pandemic that is killing people.
Stupid statement which I would only expect from an angst teenager. |

It's a very narrow minded view, it's also wrong..
Of course there's bad in any profession but having worked alongside them for many years and know some personally as friends and family it's twaddle to suggest what you have.. |

Since about 3 or 4 years ago the police have had to hold their Gross Misconduct Hearings in public forum, even though they published the outcomes anyway. To my understanding it’s the only organisation in the country which is forced to air their dirty laundry in that way and the net result is that when something does go wrong we all get to hear about it.
Believe me, I agree that bad police officers should be sacked and or punished when they’ve done something to deserve it, but keeping in mind that there are more than 150,000 police officers in the country it reflects well on the service that so many never come before a disciplinary panel in any way.
I can tell you that the vast vast majority and ALL of the police officers I know go to work to help people and do their best. I don’t consider police officers to be a better class of people than anyone else, however we should rightly be proud of the Police Service we have, which internationally are the envy of many countries and work hard to police by the consent of the people they serve.
I think the police need to be given a break. |

"So basically you're posting about some random news bulletin that you've seen, nothing to do with fab then? " Apart from the officer that used contact on fab to continue contact with a vulnerable victim, not a lot, but then this is the lounge, it doesn't have to have fab as it's main subject matter does it? |

Only the very best or the worst get noticed in any occupation, so yes I agree, those that plod along and do their jobs like the vast majority of service providers, don't get the recognition many of them deserve.
With the power they wield with their job, they have to be held to a high standard. |

The fact that someone has a cup of tea in the morning is sometimes made public record in court.... doesn't mean that is a strong link to PG Tips though. |

So a police officer who abused a victim of crime he had a duty of care to protect and then tries to use fabswingers as his primary choice of staying in contact with her isn't related to the police and fabswingers. It didn't say dating site or swinging site, it said fabswingers, so your analogy to tea isn't relevant. |

I’ve worked with several retired Police Officers and friends with a guy that works for the NCA.
If you sit down with them and discuss their work and the effect it’s had on them, it’s shocking they’re not all suffering from PTSD. Imagine going to a traffic accident in which a family has died and you have to help retrieve the bodies, which includes children or a domestic incident where’s the person being abused won’t press charges and you have to leave them and their kids to their fate.
They’ll tell you about cases that the courts and CPS have failed the victims or occasionally got the results they were after, so they celebrate afterwards. That family liaison officers are often involved with those families well after the case has ended and take a personal interest in ensuring they get past whatever terrible thing that happened to them.
I’m not saying all Police Officers are Saints but the majority just want to do a good job and see that victims get justice.
What I get is a bunch of people who do have a lot of empathy and that can include those committing some crimes, like prostitution or petty theft. They see what drove those people to a life of crime and destitution not in all cases due to their lack of moral compass.
Police get a bad reputation at times but I prefer our guys to the trigger happy US or corrupt Asian officers I dealt with in Thailand. |
