Ashamedly the lock down and having to do long hour shifts at work as meant an expansion of the middle area.

Intermintant fasting, I've done it for a few years.

How many calories are you burning compared to your intake.

If you are struggling to lose weight then you are eating more than you need.

Rather than cut down on calories , make sure that you eat for good nutrition e.g. real food, whole food.

Eat three times per day and don't eat after 7 at night.

Drink plenty of water.

Go to bed at a reasonable time.

Don't have any cakes , biscuits, chocolate , crisps ...

You cannot NOT lose weight.

Eat bin lids full of veg, some carb and some protein.

Piece of piss....... seriously

If you are intermittent fasting and not losing weight then you are eating too much on the eat days and still not moving......

I hate intermittent fasting ......

It just makes you hungry and liable to failure

All of this! Drink water, and use a tdee calculator if you want a rough idea of how much you need to eat. Then use low carb alternatives like cauliflower rice or carrot fries etc to help bulk meals up to fill your stomach without empty calories.

Eat protein as a snack it will keep you full for longer and you'll shed weight in no time

Just eat less and do not eat between meals or snack in the evening.

All I can say without knowing much about you is start by making little changes if you are also exercising and see what happens.

Do you eat or drink a lot of sugary things if so cut some of those down for instance if you have a takeaway at the weekend swap that for a healthy alternative little changes can make a big difference especially when you are already exercising...

You can track your calories on a few apps if you really want to get into it at the end of the day it’s less calories than what you are using.

But if I was you I’d just make little changes and see what happens we all respond differently good luck with it

I intermittent fast but it only works well if you’ve already got a decent balanced diet. If you’re working shifts it’s hard to eat at good times so I generally tend to have light meals when I’m on nights, fish or chicken. Avoid breaded foods, avoid bread if you can only have things like pasta and carb heavy food on days you’re gonna do decent exercise. Try not to obsess over the scales, sometimes you’ll see a big change in your shape and that can make all the difference, losing fat doesn’t always show on the scales

I do eat well but with doing shift work and driving all day its easier said than done. I stay away from fast food and eat a good mix of food.

I have lost a few pound pound these last couple of weeks, just need the gyms to open

Can't out train a bad diet. Doesn't matter if gyms are open or not. If you don't eat at a calorie deficit, you won't lose weight.

Food prep should eliminate most of the struggles you face because of shift work.

My best friend works permanent nights, still manages to eat well.

Don't diet is my recommendation, it's bound to fail because you automatically see it as a time limited experience. Establish good habits, have a serious look at the number of processed carbs and amount of sugar you're eating. Don't wait for gyms to open to exercise.

I'm no expert, far from it but of all the people I've known who've been on diets not one has remained on it for life and they have all gone back to the weight they were before they started.

I (the male half) completely agree with this, there’s no magic bullet. Now, I haven’t been able to actually manage it myself, but the process is pretty simple. For me, the biggest challenge is a mental one.

Heed this !!

Don’t buy into the idea of a diet. Everything you eat is part of your diet !

Figure out what you need to eat calorie wise. My fitness pal is a good start, or do the sums yourself.

Enter the calorie amount into google ie 2500 calorie diet. Take your pick abs go shopping for the weeks food.

Prep it all and you’re away.

Things like, don’t eat after 7pm: load of rubbish !

People will tell you what works for them, take what you need from that and apply what you want.

DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF!

Wanted to make that clear, if you starve yourself it’ll only make fat loss harder further down the road.

I’ve tried the 800 just to try and shift 1/2 a stone. I have to admit it made me go a bit weird. I can’t exactly describe in what way but I had to increase my calories intake as my body just needed more.

I’ve cut out all booze this seems to be the best thing

I think the issue as being ex forces and fairly fit trying and playing football up until recently my body isn't burning it off like it used too.

My issue is even trying to eat healthy is still putting weight on.

You've answered your own question there. You're still eating too much for your level of exercise.

I'm doing 19:5 so fasting 19 hours a day apart from water n blk coffee then in the 5 hours eat yes I may have a bag of Crisps but most of my meals are healthy I don't have a sweet tooth and Ive even cut back on bread. My job is constantly on My feet as a cook and the fasting has stopped me picking at left over after lunch. I walk alot as I train for ultra walking challenges which are either 25km or 50km in 5 or 9 hours.

Yet I'm still 14.2. My dinners are not large either.

So you’re stuck at 14.2 ?

My first guess is you’re not eating enough from the get go.

Highly active and cramming your meals into a five hour slot.

From the land of haribos.

All you need to do is to be in a calorie deficit for few month and to eat low calorie dence foods. I suggest flexible dieting as it is more fun and after each month evaluate if you are losing weight, if not lower it abit more. I suggest what you do for a week now is to log all the food you are eating to get the maintenance calories, then start to cut the calories slowly after each month

Try cutting down to either 15-16 hours of fasting, do you drink alcholol? If so cut that out as well. I fast 20hrs which I have bulit up to over the years so my body works fine with it and I have a busy job, in normal times.

If you're eating well then make sure you get in plenty of exercise and get your heart rate up a few times a day.

I've started restricting my calories as I was having around 3000 a day o.O I'm now on 1200/1500 depending on how much I've exercised and so far I've lost 10lbs in two weeks. I'm hoping to drop three stone for Summer and feeling confident I'll get there.

I've always found calorie deficit and being more active helps the weight drop off. And if you've got no exercise equipment a long walk is just as good.

I'll get there, I wasn't one for really exercising as my job and football kept the weight off and the heart rate up.

Just need change my diet until a time when I can get back to normal routine

I mrsikc have put on weight during lockdown however I don’t weigh myself due a diagnosis of bulimia, my days off are spent on the sofa, I’m a psychiatric nurse so It’s not great currently. On my days off I want to be active and do a home workout but I’m knackered! On my days off I’m lucky if I get 4000 steps in!

I'm a big girl working my butt off so I'm not surprised!

I do find the weight falls off quickly when you're on the larger side. As the weeks go on my weight loss will start to slow down to around 2lbs a week.

Hemel Hempstead

I've put my weight chart on the kitchen cupboard which contains any snack type food. I mark my weight on it every saturday morning. It has my target weight marked on it as a green line. It's not a massive drop target - about 6kg to get back below a BMI of 25.

My intention is that if I go to the cupboard for a snack, it reminds me that I'm trying not to continue the lockdown bloat. I'm also trying not to eat much after 8pm. I'm also trying to exercise more, although it's still a bit frosty on some days to go running!

I hadn't weighed myself for over 6 months since moving out of "our" house into "my" house as I didn't have scales, so when I bought myself a set for christmas, was a bit of a shock to see I'd gained a stone since last year.

Get into healthy eating habits rather than dieting. Smaller portion sizes, we all eat way more than we should.

Exercise every day, walking is a good choice (but when you walk, stride out until you’re sweaty and puffing- I look so sexy on my walks ).

Try and have a balanced range of foods, lots of veg etc.

Allow yourself the odd treats, I am very good with my diet but I have a bit of chocolate every day.

Oh, and lots of water, listen to your body. If you are hungry then eat, if you’re not then don’t.

Make snacks healthy.

Eat your evening meal earlier, and then don’t eat after it. Try and have a 14 hour gap between dinner and breakfast.
