"I have a full back piece that I don’t think about much until I catch a glimpse and it makes me smile. It’s no less significant than the ones on show. "
But of more importance? |

None are more or less important. They’re carefully chosen and remind me of a place in time. They’re a part of me and I don’t need to see it every day to appreciate it. |

A tattoo is not always viewable because some people have had these resemble something that is close to them but some people have these to add detail which suits which others see and find it attractive and people don't need to be able to see them because they already know what it is it's embedded in the skull |

Can I ask what the ink is that reminds of that place in time? |

Years ago I was going getting a Maori style tattoo on arm (like rugby player sonny bill Williams) but chickened out. Still think about getting one but have respect my job so maybe lower leg, foot... Nothing too crazy |

I find it daft that we don't accept visible tattoos for people like teachers (unless offensive/rude obviously). I don't have any tattoos, they're not really my thing, BUT I'd have no issue with a member of staff having them visible in our classrooms. |

As an example the first tattoo I got with my first proper boyfriend who is now deceased, I remember deliberately choosing my back so my parents wouldn’t see. Then future work to celebrate having my spine fixed and covering lots of small scars. It’s very sentimental. |

Sometimes to get the tattoo you want you need a big canvas which would be your back.
other times a fear of needles (cant see if its behind you)
same were a trend (shoulder & lower back)
others were deliberately chosen to be there for pain management on first tattoo
because they want it there
lots of valid reasons really
next is my leg
I'll get my back done at some point but it'll be a full back piece & detailed so expensive & needs to be an artist of epic proportion.

The school I'm in don't really care about their staff having tattoos. At the end of the day, its a way of self expression after all. Jyst as long as its not rude or offensive, they are OK with it. But other school may have other policies on tats so I'm not chancing for that reason. Its an old fashioned mentality really as it doesn't stop me doing my job regardless if I have a tat or not but that's the way it is really |

Oh I agree that you do the right thing, I just think it's silly that schools can get so het up about tattoos nowadays. |

I love most tattoos....the expression of memories, feelings, meanings and the stories behind them....you can learn alot about someone just from their tattoos.
Mine are 'meanings behind some memories' and feelings |

Similar. Two of mine are on the back. I see them if I use timer on camera;) it's knowing they are there and why... |

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you) |
I have got both arms, both legs and most of my back tattooed so I am running out of space....I have so far stood fast that I don’t want any on my tummy or boobies but watch this space
I know they are there and I can see them whenever to and like others have said they give other people something to look at |

I can’t see a lot of mine though is all significant to me...makes me smile when I catch sight of some, and others serve as a reminder of where I’ve been and am going. The placement of each was quite significant too. |

They're on show for others sometimes too. I have an appalling one on my back, but it has a funny story behind it so it is what it is! My next one is planned for my upper back. |
