Currently sat in hospital after a freak accident at work that's seen me lose my thumb and the tips of 2 other fingers! It's been confirmed that neither will be saved. |

Meds are keeping me comfortable but still feel the throbbing pain. They were gonna do an emergency op last night to save the fingers but decided they weren't worth saving so I need to wait till tomorrow for the surgery now.
I'm gutted but in good spirits. Actually quite thankful its only been my fingers as it was close to being a lot worse |

Well I put my hand out to save me from falling into it. Would have been my head. I think my head would have popped like a cheap birthday balloon on a hot day!
Or if I hadn't of pulled my hand away when I did, it might have been my whole hand that was amputated |

Sorry to hear this hope your OK, this brought back memories of when I lost the end of my middle finger 20 year ago and the tips of my first 2 fingers couple of years later if it's any comfort you will be OK takes some getting used to though |

Have a friend that did similar a good few years ago now. He lives in America and by choice decided to not have anything reattached due to the cost over there.
Obviously the loss of thumb is the real difficult part but he says he adjusted, with a fair bit of effort. Now it's like he has always had 2.5 fingers.
Feels for you man, but you seem the type of guy to get thorough it and adapt well.
Just have to practice with the other hand! |

My dad cut his thumb off when his chop saw developed a fault. Took it like a champ (was possibly the shock). I went light headed and my legs were jelly while I was scrambling around trying to look for it. |
