Hey guys, first of all, well done for taking the brave step to lose some timber. I lost 4st in the last lockdown mainly because I needed structure or would have bummed around all day. I found it easier by doing the little but often approach really helped, instead of doing an hour which nearly kills you, do 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there, cardio, weights, running up and down the stairs. Dont be too anal about what you eat, just cut it down and I promise you the weight falls off. I found the first month I didn't notice (apart from the scales) 2nd month others noticed, and the 3rd month, couldn't believe what I saw tbh, looked like I was looking at someone else in the mirror. So please stick with it, it's an amazing feeling when you reach your goal xx feel free to message if you need any encouragement or tips. Wish I had 5hat when I did it |

I need to drop a mere five stone for health reasons so on Saturday I had an injection that is suppose to surpress your hunger thus helping you loose at least 10% of your body weight which is going to be fun but the side effects are rotten!!!!!

Please be careful when loosing weight ..
Balanced small snacks every two and a half hours and atleast 4 litres of water a day ..
Read food labels and educate yourself about nutrition..
So many make up excuses about not been able to loose weight, that’s simply not true ..
Find a good nutritionist and gain knowledge..
And don’t be in a hurry..
Start now and feel great this summer ..
Plus the health benefits are brilliant.. |

Is that a weekly jab?"
Yep
Same time weekly and it’s taken a day to kick in and today I’ve missed breakfast and lunch and no snacks.
Just happened to see a article Friday morning and had a appointment with my specialist Friday lunch time and she prescribed it for me so I live in hope.

Injections, tablets etc really aren't the answer. Eat less and do more, physics prove this. I ate between 10am - 6pm. This really helped. Extemd that walk, go up and down the stairs. It all adds up. |

Whilst I appreciate you are trying to be helpful people have been prescribed things by their doctor and I don't think it's helpful to suggest people shouldn't be taking medication.
I take medication for an underlining health condition and the side effect is weight loss so should I not take it? |

Unfortunately that will be an ongoing side effect but it is worth it.
Plenty of water helps and If you feel nausea peppermint tea really helped me with the symptoms. |

Ha ha cheers for that advice Dr Class but alas being so ill I’d rather take the specialist advice and hopefully in six months I will indeed be able to walk more than the ten steps I can walk now and indeed be able to climb the stairs without collapsing due to not being able to breathe.

Eating regularly keeps your blood sugars on an even keel..
Which is good
Missing meals means your sugar levels drop massively and then spike when you eat ..
Unbalanced sugar levels is basically diabetes..
So small meals and snack every two and a half hours and lots of water ..
Weight will come off I promise.. |

The reason they have shipped these meals is because the 1st week you take the medication it makes you feel poorly and suppresses your appetite drastically but that side effect does wear off and the advice is to eat little and often. |

With all due respect guys, I'm glad that you've found what has worked for you but as someone who has spent 5 years losing about 3 stone, it's been a hard slog, especially as I have estrogen dominance connected to endometriosis. I want to lose about another 6-8 pounds and its a killer. Losing weight can be quite different for men and women as we have a hormonal disadvantage both for fat loss and muscle gain and I get so tired of hearing "just eat less" as it gets harder and harder to do so and remain healthy. |

That is very true about the difference for men and women because I know that when I have joined slimming world in the past and couples have joined, The 1st thing the consultant tells them is the man will almost certainly lose weight quicker than the women even if they are eating the same undoing the same excercise. |

Yes personally I’m aware of how diabetis work having been a type 1 for 23 years and when I say I skipped breakfast I mean I didn’t have a fat croissant and Ham and bread and butter but just had a banana after my morning injection and for lunch I skipped a kebab for a biscuit and cup of tea.
Your advice is indeed very sound and I’m in awe of people that know their stuff!!!

As the op has said loosing weight if you can is the best thing you can do to live and enjoy your best life and personality I put on a stone in the first lockdown and it’s fucked my health completely as my poor little heart just can’t cope making the simplest of tasks daunting.
Best of luck everyone.

Drink water if you feel hungry between meals
Try to walk as much as you can
If you're going to snack, make sure it's fruit or raw carrots
And try to eat meals that are slow release carbs such as porridge, brown bread, brown rice
But the most important thing is walking and raising your heart rate |

"Injections, tablets etc really aren't the answer. Eat less and do more, physics prove this. I ate between 10am - 6pm. This really helped. Extemd that walk, go up and down the stairs. It all adds up. "
Physics is probably the only branch of science which doesn't come into the weight loss equation.
Whilst you are completely right about the "eat less & move more" concept, some people are just not able to do that and need a kick-start to get them to a point where they can exercise. Quick results which make a person feel more able to lose weight are a great motivator.

For all those people giving advice to others without knowing their medical history or underlying health conditions... You can only share your own personal experience, or at best the advice which works for a typical 'textbook' person without any underlying conditions whatsoever.
Everyone else is best discussing the matter with their own medically trained GP. |

Feel free to work out a plan for me
Used to go to the gym 6 times a week. Done 30% cardio 60% weight training 10% slam ball etc. Was getting into running. Got up to 15 mins at 5mph
Eating is mostly home cooked meals but like my fair share of junk food
I'm 5ft 7. Was 9.5 stone now 11. I was probably too thin at 9.5 but want to get to 10. I've done practically nothing the whole of lockdown although take the dog 1-2 hour walks daily but a slow pace
Eating and fitness plan would be great

My weight won't shift. I'm exercising daily with anywhere from a 500-1200 a day calorie deficit and it still isn't shifting very far at all.
I eat healthy and track all my food in an app.
It's extremely frustrating and upsetting.
I'm working so hard and not seeing the results.
Those who say it's easy to loose weight, must have some secret information because I am exercising and eating the right things and it isn't working.

This is completely incorrect. It has been proven that fasting can reverse the onset of diabetes.
You don’t need to snack and eating every 2 1.2 hrs means your body is permanently digesting food. Having time away from digesting food allows the body to perform other important functions.
Fasting has been proven to lower blood sugars, cholesterol and blood pressure, decrease inflammation and weight. |

Missing meals, especially breakfast is a bad thing to do ..
Trust me it’s my job ..

I have just had 2 slices of toast and jam. That is the first thing i have eaten since 2pm yesterday. I only eat when i am hungry. Going long spells without food is not doing me any harm and it allows me to eat what i want rather than counting calories. |

"My weight won't shift.

In my opinion all these faddy diets don't work.
You have to get the right balance of nutrition, exercise and well-being.
Imagine a 3 legged stool, if one leg is off balance the whole thing won't work.
Nutrition is a mindfield, and the best thing to do is change one thing at a time... So it becomes a habit.
When you go shopping just look at one item that you may purchase, read the information on the back, you'll be surprised.
OP is right about exercise, 10mins is better than no minute's, little and often. Before you know it you'll be doing more and feeling great.
It's also important to sit and read a book, or do whatever makes you feel good.
I'll stop my ramblings now and get back in my corner

You’re absolutely correct about fad diets, however intermittent fasting cannot be classed as faddy, as the health benefits and weight loss are proven. |

So many people do not read food labels which is a shame as they are there to help us. |

Get your thyroid function tested.
I take medication for it and its regularly checked so I know it can't be that but good idea thanks."
So do I but over the course of about two years I slowly put on around one stone without changing anything about my diet or exercise, I'd never had this problem before. My gp said my thyroid function was borderline but didn't need treating. Eventually I saw a consultant in chemical pathology and metabolic medecine. She prescribed a tiny increase in levothyroxine which means taking different strengths on alternate days. She also recommended I cut down on carbs. This worked. I'm not saying this applies to you but gps are rubbish at dealing with hypothyroidism unless it's a text book case. |

That's interesting. I do wonder about my GP sometimes. Maybe I need to be more persistent. They said I'm in the range that I need to be but I was wondering if I'm at the lower end of the range. |

I was 12.5 mg per day out. The difference it has made is startling. My weight, blood sugar and cholesterol has returned to normal. Because 25mg extra (minimum tablet size) was too much my gp washed his hands of me. |
