Because of Covid...

I've not posted this in the virus section because it's not a serious debate or discussion.

Earlier this evening I went to my local KFC drive thru. I ordered a bucket for one, and was handed a bag with my meal in.

On questioning the server as to whether this was actually my meal , as I had ordered a bucket for one, I was told "oh we can't use buckets at the moment because of Covid"

Wasn't sure how those 2 things were connected, but being tired and hungry I just thanked him and drove off.

On reflection the amount of things that are 'because of Covid' is astounding.

Have others found this to be the case?

I don't understand why my Bank only opens from 09:30 until 14:00, surely the staff are already there, why can't they stay open until 17:00?

Because they have to clean everything down?

Ah yes, good thinking.

So do KFC buckets transmit Covid easier than paper bags?

You are lucky, when the first lock-down started my bank asked everyone to work from home. Unfortunately, no one thought about how to handle paper, like letters and authorization signed and sent by post.

It took a while and because of Covid a lot of business processes will be much more automated and paper less

Today I helped a woman who had broken her leg sledging. I found her and her daughter struggling to get up the slope to a safe place. I stopped to help and got her blankets and put her in recovery when she fainted with pain. I But a lot of people just looked on and didn't offer help... My daughter (7 years old) and her daughter (16 years) pulled her up the slope on a sledge with her broken leg on another sledge. I was gobsmacked but then later realised it was probably because of covid!

I think you should have given KFC a wide birth as the food is dreadful. If you want a bucket of chicken bits cook them yourself.

oh this one i know ... lower staff levels (for distancing) with the same close up jobs to get done and start and end times have been pulled out of the peak travel time so the staff can travel on quieter safer services

can anyone tell me why the topping choices at dominos were reduced

Good God. Very glad you and yours were there for her. There are boundaries but that’s one you’ve got to cross.

Big round of applause to you.

Assuming the KFC bucket issue is a supply problem rather than an infection problem. The bank appear to be just taking the piss. Jobs appear to be taking longer as a lot of companies are working with less staff be that due to shielding or social distancing I’m not sure. And finally RAC has baffled me slightly as they always worked single crew pre covid !

RAC may be impacted by staff being ill with covid or shielding because of under lying medical conditions. They worm with the general public every day so are in a high risk job.

There's a full time job at The HSE which is literally chasing down every daft media story where someone was stopped from doing something due to "health and safety regulations". There's a page on their website where someone has diligently debunked every single story as some jobsworth using the phrase as a catch-all excuse to shrug their shoulders.

I wonder if "because of covid" is the new "It's health and safety regulations".

'Because of Covid' has become the new excuse for everything.

Especially parcels not being delivered so your sat at home waiting for them all day and they don't come

After almost a year and with a plentiful supply of people looking for work, there's not much that's toleranble from businesses who fob off their poor service - because of covid

I agree Sophie.

In Feb last year, I moved out of a house I had rented for years. It took until August to get my deposit back - because of Covid, staff were working from home.

After requesting the return of my deposit several times over 6 months, I sent them an email pointing out that they were only working from home, not the far East, and returning a deposit only required a click of a mouse!

yes and if less people are travelling must be less cars broken down so why l was stuck for 6 hours in the end my partner came out to see if he could see what the problem was and got me home as they rang and said earliest they could get to me was 8pm been there since 11am
