What's the best and worse resons you've heard for needing a sick day?
* My mom was hoovering the stairs and I couldn't get past.
* I couldn't come in today because my flatmate took my door handle off and I can't get out!

Not a personal story of mine but read somewhere that homosexuality was classified as an illness in Sweden in 1979, and a lot of people phoned in sick saying they felt gay. After that homosexuality was declassified as an illness. |

I have actually heard someone use the death of a family member which didn’t happen. I thought this was an urban myth but no
My own ‘best’ one was being arrested in Florida and missing my flight which did happen.

I once had to have my mum phone in sick for me. I was mortified, but it was phone call only and I had laryngitis. It's not a bad reason, it was a talking heavy job, but I wanted to die having my mummy do my work stuff for me |

Not to be a downer.. my best was that the hospital let me break covid isolation (with serious restrictions) to sit with my dying Dad.
Worst was our apprentice who had food poisoning... whilst posting random videos on tiktok that he thought we were all too old to view |

It’s a shocker isn’t it ?
I’d love to tell you something glamorous out of an episode of Miami Vice but it was an unpaid speeding fine from earlier in the holiday. Got stopped on way to airport and had to go and sort it out. They don’t mess, those Americans cops ! |

"For a lady... surly its better to say about severe period pains?
I dont think they can do anything if they wanted too I mean. "
Sometimes I feel like we're so micro managed I wouldn't be surprised if they knew the fist day of my period
I'm sure this would have been used by some. |

When I was young I had a rubbish job. It was my mates 18th and I said I can't come in tonight as I've been sent home from college with a migraine. As I was walking out the door the boss rang and asked me whether I was coming in tomorrow. In my best sleepy voice I was like hopefully fingers crossed |

Best was probably my high school art teacher who somehow managed to dislocate her neck getting out of bed. I didn't even realise that was a thing!
Worst was a colleague who was off sick then randomly texts the supervisor to say she's got a new job. When the manager phones her and asks why she hadn't come back in if she was well enough to attend job interviews she said she was waiting for the manager to contact her . |

Did you have to pay for another flight?
That could have been an expensive speeding ticket! |

I saw a video on Reddit today of a guy living in a fifth floor apartment explaining why he couldn’t get to work.
Took a step into the communal hall and workmen had removed all the stairs down to the ground floor.
Not sure where in the world it was from but obviously not a country with a good health and safety culture lol |

Did you make it in after the celebrations of an 18th birthday? |

Not a day off but the worst excuse I’ve ever heard from someone who was late for work was: ‘I let the budgie out of its cage last night and it must of landed on my alarm clock and switched it off’
How do you bollock someone and keep a straight face after hearing that |

I didn't either and it sounds awful!
The colleague sounds like she has gone past caring!

"I wonder if my boss would accept "I just need a mental health day to recharge from the fact my colleagues are fucking morons"...
I think needing a mental health day is totally acceptable.
"
I think it's definitely more accepted these. I worked at a smaller company and you'd definitely get judged if you did that, unfortunately |

I think it's definitely more out in the open now.
Before lockdown my manger was on a mental health course.
It is a shame though that people feel judged which I can understand.
I suppose that's why some people use other excuses for sick days rather than say how they are actually feeling.
