I don't know how politicians have the patience with them sometimes. And I don't know how questions like that justify her six figure salary.

I remember a press conference at the scene of a train crash.

The question was "What is the scene like?"

The senior ambulance officer answered "A train full of passengers has hit a car and derailed. What do you think the scene is like?"

A rare moment of candour.

Absolute cretins.

Matt Hancock laughed at them in an interview I saw last year. They were simultaneously telling him to lockdown and open the country up...!

Then they said to him covid isn't a laughing matter. Wtf.

I would think with the new quarantine arrangements just announced, people would have the common sense to not want to go abroad this summer. Other countries could be added to the red list at short notice.

Travelling

I hate news reporters and the majority of journalists just as much as I hate the politicians.

Very few of them ask the big important questions, not do they push and dig for the answer. Assuming questions are not in some way pre screened of course, if they are, then their job as a journalist is worthless.

For the most part, I can't stand Piers Morgan but he at least has the right attitude for putting politicians on the spot and pushing for an answer instead of just accepting their checklist autocue default answers that are a glorified "no comment".

It's just click bait social media feed. She used to be a decent journalist. But isn't fit to write a post card any more. It's disgraceful the shit that it stirs up. All negative. There is no up side to that question at all. It's almost like the threads in fabs which start "asking for a friend". They should be embarrassed to call themselves journalists at times.

What is even more cretinous in a global pandemic, is to defer our choice of holidays to the government. When the fuck did that happen. We will have a minister for fun and holidays soon.

Meltdown of the day for me was Sir Charles Walker on Radio 4. He implored the prime minister to give people "something to look forward to".

He told BBC Radio 4's World at One: "We had summer holidays last year when we didn't have a vaccine. Now we've got vaccines coming out of our ears, we are told, 'Don't book a summer holiday,' for crying out loud."

It was quite a passionate outburst and although I am not happy about the prospect of the restrictions carrying on throughout the year. You just have to put your big boy pants on and accept it is a probability.

As far as I can see politicians and the media are locked in some weird power based sado masochistic relationship where they've fully forgotten what normal life is like. Why we listen to either side escapes me. Actually yeah I do know why. They run fucking everything.

Time to find a new way of running our own lives. I’m interested in where things like the Doughnut Economic Action Lab, Integral Thinkers and more post conventional ways of organising might lead. We may have to let the oligarchs and their mouthpieces and pawns get on with it, while the rest of us begin to find an alternative.
