A few years ago I had the privilege of swimming with Great Whites on a visit to S Africa ... and yes I was in a cage!
It was one of the most exhilarating opportunities I have ever experienced. I came up close and personal with 2, both about 16-18 feet long, they were beautiful and graceful.. but of course menacing looking too. To see them slowly come up from the depths, and then literally at the flick of a fin disappear. I even pushed one away from the cage, their skin is very rough, and sandpaper like.
A truly memorable experience with beautiful creatures, in THEIR environment.

I'm not doubting the Guardian's content. Just wondering why you'd force yourself to read such a publication |

"Read the article.. they are eating everything in their path.. "
Everything?
Or everything that they eat?
I was watching an interesting documentary about sharks and it was saying that if there's shark's in the area in abundance it's a sign of a healthy ecosystem. |

Having checked the news I see no articles in my copy of the Financial Times of businesses exploiting the migration of said sharks ... no diving companies investing in boats and cages on the US Eastern seaboard nor a renaissance in cuboid chewy sweet sales |

"Few years ago, we had a great white and hour and a half away from Cornwall.
Expect them to be off the coast, of Brighton in a few years.
There is a shark tracker website, called Oceana. "
How dangerous are this foe |

They were around before us and were the essential apex predators, necessary in their ecosystems to provide balance. Until humans started to kill them off, alongside other species and started to destroy the worl, for selfish financial gain, including creating global heating and pollution.
That a few remaining Great Whites are forced to move from their habitats because of us, should be another call for us to take greater immediate steps to stop global heating and other harm, leading to mass extractions. |

There are several collectives for sharks all bonefide but some more situationally suitable ...... e.g. school, swarm, frenzy , shiver .... gam ... and herd are used too.
I think you'd choose 'shiver' tom....
I use school .. unless there's a feeding frenzy |

There are 10 human deaths attributed to sharks per year
150 human deaths are attributed to coconuts.
Tom. You need to look up.
Conversely an estimated 100 million sharks were killed by people in 2019
There is a monster in the water Tom. But if you are looking at a culprit for ecosystem destruction. You may have found the wrong one....
Start with the coconuts |
