John Varvatos' Dark Rebel is the best thing I have ever smelt anywhere ever! The description is of leather, smoke and sweat, which makes it ideal for clubs.

It's discontinued now (the replacement Dark Rebel Rider is not as good), but my partner managed to track down a bottle for my birthday last month, and I've worn it every day since.

The Artisan Pure is also pretty good, but a bit more floral/summery.

If you watch chronologically from years ago to more recent times you'll see a journey of descent into craziness as his ego grows and the occasional party line turns into a habit lol. I may have made that up slightly.

Bleu Chanel, when I can get it a bit cheaper duty free in airports is as good as it gets. May the covid crisis end soon as stocks are getting low. It seems to do the trick every time, especially when shopping in supermarkets, when you see a woman who you fancy, then go and select an item right next to her. That of course was before social distancing was invented, and we all had to become the men of mystery behind the mask.

Ton ford oud wood smells a lot like oud a moldy trees from India. Very unique smell, people just find it strange.

Mont blonk has the same dna as creed adventus, can smell the pertuli right off.

But its a lot cheaper lasts longer and all round better compliment getter.

"I honestly find that aftershaves go out if fashion, the smells become outdated.

For me that's joop ck1

I've always been a bit hippy so love thst most of the base is pertuli oil. The smell everyone used to take the piss out of.

Bit like skinny jeans.

I always associate the likes of hoop and issy miake with the 90s."

Yes issy is an other one. Very cucumber that smell very fresh.

Sounds to me like we have some of the single guys on here who make a bit of effort to smell nice for a meet whether it be using a cheap or expensive fragrance. I gather that there is an element of guy who turn up for meets, with the aroma of CANAL No5, those guys could do with reading this thread, they might learn something!

One I've come across by accident but is the go to now is Mont Blanc Explorer. In my opinion it can be worn day or night, formal or casual. A real timeless, gentlemanly smell (if you can categorise a smell as such )

Sauvage is very 17 year old boy, not for men, so my daughter tells me , all the boys wear it, she insists I don’t !

Mint Blanc explorer is quite nice, as is Creed and Armani Stronger with you (intensely)

Yeah, the price is a big plus. I love Creed but I can't bring myself to shell out that much for some. Much rather stick with the Mont Blanc and have a good night with the left over £180

Do you think that Creed is as consistent over their whole range compared to say Parfums de Marly? I think a lot of Creed is trading off the name. Not smelt any of pdm yet so curious but aware its growing in reputation so worthy of comparison. I LIKE Aventus and obviously it's good but I don't feel it's special any longer. But it's all subjective!

Atm for me

Dior collection prive santal noir

LV ombré nomade

Which I alternate with mirra from acqua Di Parma

Polo black

Usually price difference in between fragrances is because of the concentration of the oils they use, perfume is more expensive then cologne and cologne costs more than eau de toilette

I think it is also worth remembering creed maybe fab on one man and not so hot on another..

I have two adult sons and one day we were going out and they both 'nicked'some of my Aramis, it really worked with the younger lad but not with his big brother...

I wear Penhaligons,

i get a different bottle everytime in london.

My favourite is penhaligon - blasted heath.

I hate high street brands just connot wear them. i love how perfectly intune & individual penhaligons are.

That’s the beauty about penhaligons, very unlikely you’ll smell someone else wearing one of their fragrances

100% the downside to it is they only keep each fragrance available for around 2-3 years so its heartbreak when you become attached to them and then theyre no longer available

Bit of a myth that

Although perfume may cost slightly more to produce, the vast majority of the costs are packaging and marketing
