Not particularly an album but certainly some songs do.
Some country songs always take me right back to my young teenage years when my Dad and I would be standing washing the pots together, with the radio in and us chatting, laughing and singing along.
Happy memories. |

There and to the left a bit |
There are loads but probably the most pertinent in shaping the direction of my musical tastes would be the album One Step Beyond by Madness...
...imagine if you will a scene just after Xmas 1979, 14 year old GM is stood in HMV clutching his Xmas money which was enough for two albums...he already knew he wanted The Fine Art Of Surfacing by The Boomtown Rats but couldn't decide between the aforementioned One Step Beyond and Pink Floyd's The Wall as his second choice - in the end he plumped for Madness and so began a love of a band and a genre that still exists to this day (funnily enough put One Step Beyond on earlier today too!!)
And The Rats' album? Swapped it for The Specials debut a few months later to complete the taste direction |
