2021 kicks off tomorrow with The Italians opening up against France.

So obviously scores are a bit complicated to predict but for opening weekend, who's taking the win from the firstb3 games.

England v Scotland

Italy v france

Ireland v Wales

Formalities "should" run Frances wayfarer the points against Italy.

Assuming Eddie Jones hasn't tinkered the squad too much the Win should come home for England.

And prediction for the Sunday technical one I tip Ireland to take it

Discuss.....

England vs Scotland: there’s been some talk about Scotland having a chance with all the England absences, but I doubt it.

France vs Italy: it would be extraordinary if France failed to win.

Wales vs Ireland: if the results from the Pro 14 are any guide, Ireland ought to win comfortably; but I think it depends which Wales and Ireland teams turn up on the day....!

Italy v France - as France’s second/third choice team forced England into a lucky win situation, I would expect tomorrow’s line up will comfortably beat Italy.

England v Scotland - wonder boy Russell is back as well as introducing Cameron Redpath - a fantastic steal from under uncle Eddie’s nose - Scotland win obvs.

Wales v Ireland - Wales still struggling to find form and despite some Irish injuries, I expect Ireland to edge this one .

Saracens players - not played rugby since November last year? EJ playing this down saying it makes them hungrier and fitter ... hmm

Refereeing - first year without the quality of Nigel Owens.

Huget - I know you will miss his flowing locks and stunning good looks ... doesn’t even make the bench for today’s Italy match

I did dread Huget was going to play when vakatara was ruled out.... lol but will him missing and romain ntamack not playing, the french may be short of stunning players for me to hate!

Actually if you want a proper rugby point from me (probably only one you’ll get from me today) i want to see how the young Italian halves play, the Gloucester kid chose Italy over wales, so that shows something

Also.... which Finn Russell turns up today for the Scots?

France have a depth of stunning players at the moment, so I expect it won’t be too long before you can find a few more to irrationally dislike.

Garbisi and Varney for Italy - will keep an eye on these today. Italy have a record of attracting players with dual nation eligibility - Tommaso Allan (Tommy Allan as he’s known in Scotland chose Italy over Scotland)

Talking of which looking forward to seeing Cameron Redpath (Bath rugby) who has finally decided to play internationally for Scotland - having been included in Eddie Jones selections in the last year or so.

Finn Russell - who knows !!??? Watching some of the Racing games last year, it’s clear the club are developing him really well - he’s learning to keep the heed, but still retaining that skill for the sublime pass or instinctive running angle to open up the field. Whether the Townsend relationship is repaired - time will tell - magic or moody, he might just have an edge on a rusty Farrell

France and England to win today

Ireland win tomorrow.

England to win overall, but France v England will be the deal breaker. France have a young crop of players who could run riot. England need to stop kicking and play rugby.

Wales to have their worse 6 Nations for years.

Scotland to take a surprise scalp against Ireland

Agree but they are absolutely running scared of head injuries at the moment and the liability that comes with it. So this rule is always going to be stringently enforced.

Agreed! But credit to Scotland they also played very well

They dominanted hugely by way of possession and territory, they should have had the game secured by half time

Their game management is poor though. Russell is massive liability. I could barely watch him and I'm not even Scottish "

I think Russell needs to play like that......on the right side of being on the edge.... the England backs had zero line breaks.... and the sarries players looked super rusty,,,,

Problem with Russell, he can just as quickly slinga game away. The Sarries issue is obviously going to be a huge problem. How he thought not playing at all wouldn't affect the players is wild

In a way I mean what I say as a compliment to Scotland

They were so dominant they should have had it in the bag earlier

Russell is one of those players who can send it either way, fortunately tonight, the charge down didn't come off for England

Scotland entertaining and enterprising, thoroughly enjoyed their performance and deserved the victory, should of been more convincing on the scoreboard if I had to criticise anything.

Hamish Watson puts half a dozen performances in like that and he’s a lions 7 for me.

England... Nice bright white shirts.

How many England players have played well in the last few months? Or are the "form" players in their positions?

George? Genge? Itoje? Billy? Curry? Farrell? Slade? May? Watson? Daly?

The best in their position this season? I think not

I would not be picking the Lions Team on one game. As a Scots supporter I have seen the lads put in a massive game and then fall apart for the rest of the season. But here's hoping.

Also the Irish are no mugs and the Welsh are hurting. England have an ability to turn themselves around and hurt teams.

It is going to be a fascinating 6 Nations.

Daly, Youngs and Billy V need to go. Feel sorry for Lawrence, suspect Farrell will go to 12, Ford at 10 although would prefer to see Simmonds or even Smith at 10.

Not convinced about Genge or Stuart either, or George tbh, although he is lacking game time of course.

The thing that worries me about France is that they have to go to both Dublin and HQ this year....

I don’t think any team will “grand slam” it this year... i think i could see a final weekend where 3 or even 4 of the teams could nick it....

Hard week coming on the training pitch I think.

Italy next weekend and after tne thrashing France have they THEY will be seeking a redemption and I don't fancy being 2 for 2 at the hands of Italy.

Much work from the whole team and much to do from Eddie Jones.

1 game never decides a tournament but if we're to at least take the cup there's got to be a massive improvement on the pitch

Fair play though, he’s actually wanted to play more rugby than the other “stars”

Isn’t there a slight arrogance that they perhaps thought they didn’t want to be in the starting team against Doncaster and Ealing etc.. because they were being looked after by elite performance in the England squad ?

I don’t know

Just seems kind of arrogant to think you can drop in so many of your star players without them actually having played any rugby for an extended period of time.

If it is injury management by the RFU, it didn’t work very well for them did it.

Oh I agree with that... Its ridiculous to expect any player to just be parachuted in at the very top level having not played for months. What's even more ridiculous is seeing that they were very clearly out of their depth and leaving them out there... Though of course that will have helped them for the next weeks fixtures in the campaign. I suspect there is also funny shenanigans with sarries with rfu saying they would select their internationals otherwise they'd have left sarries when they were relegated... But that's juts me being a cynic

Pinning the 10 jersey on Sexton so early is a big call. You want to wait until end of 6N to see if his 35 year old body has survived?

Man of the moment Russell would be an obvious choice, but I can understand a nervousness around his magic or madness temperament. Maybe if he can show consistency and maturity in the next few games he might be looked at with different eyes?

I’ve actually enjoyed watching the games without the crowd tbh, you can hear the players shouting to each other, calling plays etc, the ref giving them a telling off, really quite enjoyed it

Land of my fathers without the crowd is going to be weird. Usually gives me goosebumps hearing them roar it out

It’s the whole clearing out process when there was no need to do so... Southern Hemisphere players do it all the time and get away with it....
