Just wondering on peoples opinions! If you’re working at a place you’ve been for a while and are safe would you take the risk and do something totally different? But where youve been for so long lose what you had?

If you want a change then go for it. But weigh up the pros, cons, and whether the new company seems safe in these times.

A change is as good as a rest, so they say. If the other opportunity has good prospects I’d say go for it. The fact you’re even considering it shows you’re ready for change.

How long is a while?

I took the risk 2 years ago and walked away from a company I worked at for 34 years.

A year into the new job I was furloughed for 7 months and then let go. I've only worked part-time since for a fraction of what I was getting and can't plan more than a day ahead.

Based on that I'd say stick with what you have but then you're half my age so it's your decision.

Most definitely. It's better to regret the things you tried than regret the things you didn't try.

You will feel better in yourself and will learn from it whatever happens. Plus a new place often leads to new friends, contacts, etc.

If your already thinking along those lines you've probably already decided. Take risks and be happy

A change is good and life is short.

If you're guaranteed to be financially secure some way or another then I would definitely go for it.

If you are safe as for some time off like 6months or 12 months unpaid and try the other option nothing has to be black and white and never burn your bridges

Only you can make that decision. In the past I left a job, jumped on a plane then spent the 10 years of my life in another country. If you are asking the question, perhaps you already know the answer.

Personally I only take calculated guaranteed risks, if it was only me I'd go with the wind but I have a family I am responsible for and cannot afford for it to go tits up...

It’s so hard I am younger so I guess now is time to take the risks but with COVID and the situation with some people losing there jobs mine is safe so it’s so hard to weigh up pros and cons :/ thanks for your advice though means a lot!
