Oh no it doesn't it comes after one
Just had a call off my dad to say that they've been at A&E since 10 this morning.
Mum has fallen in the yard, was taken to hospital in an ambulance and just had it confirmed that she's broken her hip.
At what point did they think that waiting 6 hours to tell me was OK ?
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !
Off to hospital now
Sorry for a Thursday rant, but I need to get it out of my system before I throttle the pair of 'em ! |

About 10 years ago, my mam fell during the night and broke her hip but stayed on the floor all night and didn't ring any of us until the morning so that she didn't wake us up!!!!! Hope your mum is soon on the mend xxxx |

They probably thought it wasn’t necessary to tell you till everything was confirmed. It can’t have been that big an issue though or you would have gone to the hospital immediately rather than spend time putting up this thread before leaving. |

Bearing in mind it usually takes 4 hours+ to get seen in A&E maybe they wanted to find out how much damage had been done, if any, before worrying you.
My mum did the same thing recently and we all flipped for not being told but her reasoning was that she didn't want to worry us about her going in for an op was because we recently lost an Aunt while under the knife. Don't be angry with them, they probably had the best of intentions in a roundabout sort of way. |

Thanks for the kind wishes folks.
She seemed OK in herself, but obviously very uncomfy and in some pain.
Hopefully having an OP either tomorrow or Saturday to rectify things.
Just hope it doesn't knock her confidence too badly as she has only just gained limited mobility after suffering muscle wastage due to the side effects of the meds given to her after a kidney transplant.
Only time will tell I guess.
I was the prodigal son and said nowt ref not being told earlier |
