2 is a mild earthquake and 8 is the worse. I think that would make you a 2 because you don't want a strong earthquake so 2 is good?

Just to make things slightly more confusing perhaps, I was involved in earthquake engineering at one point... so basically 4 on the Richter scale is 10 times bigger than a 3. Likewise, 5 is ten times bigger than a 4. So a 5 on the Richter scale is 100 times bigger than a 3 and so on..... this is why massive earthquakes (say 9 on the Richter scale) are so rare....
