"My neighbour phoned to see if I was okay as my car hadn't moved for a few days.
You think i'd be grateful wouldn't you?
I wasn't.
It mildly pissed me off.
So ...... why ? "
We are in lockdown. You are staying at home.
But a teeny bit intrusive, and may also be well-meaning, too? |

"Bit intrusive, made you think they viewed you as one of those old dears who would have a fall? Maybe society sees you in that way, the old neighbour you need to keep an eye on... "
Society does. We have had some very nice people enquiring if we have everything we need and so we need help with Internet shopping. The thing is there are some people of our age who are unable to use a computer and we are likely to be more vulnerable at a time like this but these people have seen me loading ballast into a cement mixer and taking delivery of endless Tesco and Amazon deliveries |

"I get fed up when my neighbours ask intrusive questions.
"Why haven't we seen your wife for ages ? "
" Why are you always digging your garden in the evenings? "
Really annoying "
I may have laughed a little too much at that.
I think I've put my hip out, don't think I'll be driving for a while.
Hope my neighbour pops round to see if I'm ok.

Granny I have to say I think you are being a little bit grumpy and you should be pleased that you have such lovely neighbours who would want to make sure you are OK. |

You wanna know why G-Crumps?
Coz now you're compelled to show consideration back. That mofo looked out for ya, so now you're legally bound by invisible ink to keep your peepers out and make sure that they too are OK. You didn't ask for that responsibility, it's been forced upon ya!

I would not be offended in the slightess! It's well documented that 'mental health' has taken a massive hit during lockdown. A gentle check up, check in on someone can make a massive differance to someone day.
People with mental health don't always reach out. And it can be the ones you'd least exspect who stuggle.
Take it as a compliment, that they cared enough to check in. Better than them not giving a flying frig about other humans who share this planet. |
