Another disappointment

I had no idea what to buy my 23year old daughter for Xmas so along with her usual little gifts i booked 2nights for 2 people in a nice hotel in Edinburgh. I booked it for mid March thinking things would be a little bit back to normal but the hotel has just contacted me to cancel booking as it is now shut until 31st of March. Obviously they are allowing me to change dates but when is going to be a good time as nobody seems to know. She will be disappointed when i tell her as she was so excited as was her friend. A sad day when we can not even get a break away in our own country.

It's probably best not to book anything like that until we're on some kind of even keel

It was booked in November when things were looking up.

I know it’s a pain and such a disappointment but keep the faith.

You’ll get your little break away x

I agree OP, the new variant wasn't about in November. I would suggest booking for between June and September. X

You could take this whole situation as an opportunity to not plan anything but to act impulsively when the restrictions are over. Think of the added excitement not know what you are doing until the day!!!

Even in summer time there might be some restrictions.

I'd wait until everything has been okayed, and the vaccine is mostly out there. K and I were offered to rebook for our cancelled holiday but decided to just take the money and stick it in to the house instead.

Not possible when working as need to book time off work in advance.

Yes. All Covid disrupted plans are in my IOU bucket for now. It sucks, but it is.

Don't book anything.

But be prepared for higher prices when people can.

Why not look at a little cottage some where? It’s private and self catering. If you find one with a hot tub or something they can have a weekend away still. Yes it is self catering etc but still safe abs technically by then should be allowed.

Surely things have to improve and soon. I know that when you consider the hospitals and the sad fact that people are still dying, a break in a hotel seems insignificant but we are humans and we need to get back to some form of normal.

Fingers crossed and good luck OP

I feel your pain OP. I've got gigs booked for March that I'm guessing won't be happening.

When I booked them last October March seemed like a sure bet.

Aim for August OP

It sucks but that a realistic time frame, that is if there are no further mutations, and vacancies go as planned.

Sounds good but think they would prefer to be in the city so they can hit the shops and bars. I will let her decide what she wants to do.x

It’s a shame and a bit mad. I am guessing that work places would get more busy when things open up and planning days off will be tricky too. Good luck, there is so much uncertainty and it will be nice to get a break.
