It’s good fun in theory.

I’m practice it seems difficult to find a good time, especially as everyone is so busy working or home schooling.

If you/they have some intelligence and imagination for things like fantasy/ role play and most of all confidence. If you can actually talk to someone online rather than just toss off then absolutely.. Though there's probably some mileage in that if done right..

What doesn't work is one person expecting the other to do all the work whilst they sit there answering other people's messages and emails

If you look at it as 2 people getting to know each other prior to potentially meeting it's useful.

Just be honest, articulate, imaginative and equally involved.

You'll soon know if it's worth continuing or not.
