Have heard of at least 1 club I know of being raided before and just wondered if its illegal to run or attend one of them?

If have license from Council not illegal. If a club has been raided it's usually because of illegal bar sales, health and safety and one other issue... But then the club was reported... Good clubs have a license and work together with police if there are any issue like Chams or Partners..just 2 I know of who do H.

Whilst at first glance, it may seem that swinger parties and clubs are perfectly legal in Britain, a little deeper digging reveals Acts of Parliament that can easily be used to prosecute the owners of clubs and others hosting swinger parties.

Most people assume that swinger clubs are completely legal in 21st century Britain. They certainly should be in a modern, 'liberated' democracy. In Holland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France and Spain there is absolutely no question about it. When people in those countries attend a swinger party in a swinger club they are attending a legal event in a legal establishment.

In Britain, the water is actually quite murky. There is certainly no act of Parliament that directly defines swinging as being illegal. There are none that define a swinger party as being an illegal event. Neither are there any that specifically forbid the setting up of premises for the purpose of holding such events. However, there are other laws that can easily be used against swinger club

I think the ambiguous laws regarding swinging clubs centres around how they are classed. For example, if you apply to open a sex club you'll more than likely be refused, but if you say it is a private members only club you'll stand a greater chance of getting a licence for it. The location of the club is key too. Site it in or near a residential area and where there are schools nearby and you've got virtually nil chance of getting it past the council, but put it in a unit on a trading estate, or out in the sticks somewhere secluded and they'll pretty much let you do what you want.

You also have to look at the council you're applying to as make sure it is a swinger-friendly council as some aren't.

Even a sales party for adult toys can technically be raided as a brothel if a man is present

Also if more than two couples are having sex in a house that technically makes it a brothel.

Old laws that need reforming

I thought a brothel was defined as an enclosed place where sex is traded for money.

i think the point he is trying to make is that there are some old unrepealed laws that could technically render people open to prosecution.

i mean, technically its still legal to shoot a welshman with a bow and arrow at certain times of day and in certain locations but its unlikely it would stand up as a defence in court.

its a very grey area and swingers clubs would be more down to local bye laws than statute law.

lets face it most swingers clubs break the sex discrimination laws by charging different prices for men and women but rarely get prosecuted for it.

i think as someone said, a police raid may be because of other things like alcohol sales and the like.

think it depends on the interpretation doesnt it?

the club is only providing a venue t have sex, once they are providing that sex, then it becomes a brothel.

otherwise, generally, hotels COULD be considered illegal also, as they allow people the opportunity to get away from the marital home and have sex.

possibly.

maybe
