Whilst Sam is wondering the best way to do a home haircut, I am wondering if anyone has attempted to cut their beloved dogs hair?
What have you been doing with your pooches during lockdown?
It isn't cheap getting a dog groomed. Maybe now you can save yourself some money and just do it yourself  |

"I did mine for 12 years, make sure they are a high quality grade of clippers and don't take any risks, use a child's pair of rounded blade scissors to trim tricky spots"
During the first lockdown my daughter did her Shih Tzu. She did ok mind but the clippers weren't for dog grooming and it ruined them. |

For anyone wanting to groom their own dog. Please please please make sure you get any knots out first. If you bath the dog with knots in, as the hair dries the knots will tighten especially under the armpits, and can create sores. Like, really fucking painful sores. |

I need to add 2 areas where matts seems to gather just in case you don't check.
Inner thighs and under ears too. Knots love these areas. Feel with your fingers and look with your eyes before you go in with the brush. |

Like most people who do what I do as a profession we have a 2nd job/line of income for when we are not on duty and mine is dog grooming. It's still only long haired breeds we are allowed to do in lockdown for welfare reasons but people keep asking for their other dogs to.
At on the plus side at least my 6 dogs look good in lockdown lol |

I have and it took sooo long. I know I don't have a great deal of stuff to do these days but the poor dog had to sit in shifts.
I could have made another dog from all the trimmings
I don't want to so it again myself unless I really have to, and besides, I really don't like cutting claws

Then you'd have to knit a doggy onesie to stop it shivering to death
On a serious note, just do it with scissors, sure it might not look amazing but it's better than it getting matted and it'll grow back.
