Don't we all tell lies really even if they are white lies?
Or are you blatantly truthful no matter who you upset.
Do you class a white lie as a lie or as a way of just being polite and wanting to save someone's feelings?
Are lies ever justified?

Sometimes I lie and pretend my friends' jokes are hilarious because I don't want to dent their ego. I think that's justified, they continue thinking they are very funny and they still like me. Win-win. |

I think it's all a lie, life in general. Being polite is simply being polite, it's the intention and motive, and some people would view it as a lie or insincere, but then it's their lie and not yours |

We all lie, even here posting our best pictures for all to see. We rarely share a picture with our mates of ourselves with a massive zit on our face. We all hide and pretend however much we profess we don't. White lies as long as they don't massively impact me I couldn't care less about, you may get an eye roll and that's about it. |

I am autistic and natural honesty is my default state. Although I *can* lie if I have to, I find it very hard and stressful.
Unfortunately my experience is that most people don't really want to hear the truth. |

I like to think I can handle the truth...it's better than the alternative but I don't mind a spoonful of sugar with it |

I like being told the truth too - even if it isn't what I want to hear, or it hurts. Don't tell lies, even white lies, to spare my feelings.
But I can't tell you the number of times I've been asked for honesty, assured that the person really wants honesty, and then had them get pissed off at me because I've been honest! I mean... really?!? |

In life I think we’re always filtering our conversations the way we filter on here. At its best we try to exaggerate the positive, filter out or lessen the negative, adjust ‘the truth’ to the context.
Remove those filters and I think we’d all struggle with everyday interractions of absolute honesty.
Equally those who filter everything through self interest or gain and will lie wherever it suits them are also be avoided. |

Yes I think lies can be justified.
Obviously say if you are out to deceive or hurt then no.
But when my friend asked me recently if her baby was the most beautiful I had ever seen I completely lied and said yes.
I think it depends on the circumstances and intention. |

And me!
It's like when someone say hi how are you? They want me to say yes fine thanks you? But if I'm not ok I will tell them even if its the postman. |
