I'm joining this group.
I may not be there in actual years, but it has been pointed out to me over the last few days that I'm a sensitive snowflake when I speak with compassion towards others, and some of what I say makes no sense whatsoever, therefore I must be talking to myself.
So it appears that I'm no longer gonna be the "what a fucking liberty" nan, but the one they all think is insane until the tables get turned and they go..... "ohhhhh, that's what she meant"
So, I'm gonna be the lady in the corner chattering away to herself. The one when things go wrong people ask for the advice they weren't prepared to listen to in the first place.

Who called you a sensitive snowflake? An actual friend or a stranger on the internet?
I saw the post about you talking to yourself last night but didn't get chance to reply. What you were saying made total sense to me. You will be 'talking to yourself' if they don't understand, but that doesn't mean you're wrong. At all.

It’s really about perspective. When I was in my early 20s, 30 was old. Really old. I was absolutely certain of this, and it was important too. Imagine being 30? Ugh
There are people who are 30 now, turns out they weren’t old at all, some are quite immature (as are plenty of people aged 60+)
Look for the people who either accept other ages or who see the person instead of the number.
Ultimately it’s the same with any numerical value. I don’t want to know you if you’re over 50, under 6 feet tall, have less than a 9 inch knob, earn less than £100k, have a car more than 3 years old...
Numbers are really handy, but fucking hell, sometimes they make you miss some good bits. |

I was in my fifties when this site first began. We are all in charge of our own destiny make sure you put the effort in and you will reap the results.
No need for an OAP section, we're not going in mob handed after all. |

a quandary, could you change my mind? |
I'm over the five o .
So must now be part of the OAP group.
Feel much better now than before the five o.
Must admit to being surprised at being over 50 , my thoughts and feelings are often much younger.
I do get a scare every so often, I look in the mirror and there's a guy looking back much older than me.

I wouldn't take any notice of those who have a cut off point in their age criteria. I've never had any problems with age, and it has happened that people with age limits have discovered that I am not a bad contact to have, especially for accommodation, suddenly age is not a problem. Once you have a few verifications to your credit people will find you regardless of age because, genuine, reliable guys who are not going to bottle it at the last minute, are not actually that easy to find, especially for gb's |

Over 60s outside some age filters
Over 50s outside some age filters
Over 40s outside some age filters
Over 30s outside some age filters
Under 30s outside some age filters
If these were all true, nobody would be looking to meet anybody

When I first joined, as a single woman, I got so overwhelmed with messages I was terrified!
I made my account private and got to work learning how to set my parameters to thin the herd begging for my attention. One of those things was age range. But I never revisited it. I will now.
I hope that now I'm not an obvious newbie - even tho I feel like one (been on the scene for just 18 month - 11 of those during a pandemic!) the wolves won't circle me so aggressively when I'm ready to go public and play again.
Thanks OP! |

The most hilarious part of threads like these is when someone uses the words "age and experience" in the same sentence as if one can't exist without the other.
I joined fab at 51 with virtually no sexual experience and I have chatted to many people in similar situations.
The only age issue I have had in my time here is that people assume because I'm 55 that I'm automatically looking to rekindle my youth and will fawn all over any woman who even glances in my direction regardless of what age they may be.
My lower age filters are set in stone for very good reasons. |

I've observed that men of all ages say that the lack of interest in their profile is due to their age. It's probably just due to the high number of men compared to women and couples. I do think though, that the optimum age on fab for men is 35 to 45 |

OAP? I won't have it...
I'm 51 going on 17 and despite my lack of hair I'd still show these hoodie wearing grime talking whipper snappers a thing or two init.
Put them on the back of my bike and I'll have them crying for their mother in 5 minuets.
Incidentally I saved £30 a month by combining my SAGA car insurance and Sun life insurance plan with a subscription to the Coffin Dodgers Weekly.... thank god for Parky and his adverts aye |

You make a very good point - it *is* mostly men that raise things like age, being bisexual, the number imbalance etc as being *the* reason for their lack of "success" on the site - almost like they need something to blame.
Truth is in the majority of cases, looking closer to home would be a better option - I'm a firm believer in it being possible for anyone to get the most out of the site if they set their expectations, attitude and approach correctly - it's all within the individual users control, it's just easier for some to find something else to blame other than themselves having got it wrong. |

It doesn’t really matter if you consider yourself “fitter” than most younger than you.
51 is still 51, and some people will be interested and some will not.
Naturally the older we get the amount of people who are attracted to us gets smaller and smaller.

This is a great post and one I agree with.
Often people equate older age with more experience and younger age with less.
I’m in my 20s and often get the “When you’re older you’ll gain experience” crap, I wish people would drop that and look at others as individuals. |
