Evening all. We are very close to purchasing our first caravan, we have 3 young kids... we have been looking for months and are struggling to decide/work out what we really want from a caravan! Anyone got some advice on what models would be best suited to us and the kids... also any helpfull tips and tricks i might need in the future?
I know this is a swingers site... but im not oj any caravan forums!  |

Depends on what you want you can always add an seeming to give extra space. Also depends on your budget Bailey are good. The German makes tend to be a bit wider but that has obvious drawbacks |

Hobbys seem to fit our requirements well.
But i have heard rumours of some sites not allowing them? |

"if you got kids, you need one with an end bedroom or at least some way of shutting it off from the main part.
this is so you can put them to bed while you stay up and chill or watch tv or whatever"
Noted... so many different options! I like the baileys with the tripple bunks, but as the kids grow this will become less usefull! |

Never had any issues with mine when I had a hobby but have heard this. Now I don’t have kids to worry about I no longer have the caravan now a. Camper van |

Some sites won't allow hobby's on as they were associated with gypsies, not so much nowadays though.
All caravans have their own little issues.
Depends on your budget.
6 berth or 4 berth and an awning, depending on the age of the kids.
Its an industry we know well, years of experience.

Get your self a damp meter and read up on the proper way to use it and what moisture levels are acceptable or have a professional inspection done on any caravan you are seriously thinking of buying |

Good advice above.
Go for a well known make and if you're buying privately then get someone who knows all about them to help you. One thing I would add to a caravan is a full size awning. They don't cost that much (a lot of used caravans include them in the price anyway). They are essential with children because they effectively double your space.
Also make sure that the towing vehicle is ok to pull it with the 80% minimum rule with regard to weight. A stabilizer is a must but again most caravans now have them on the tow hitch.

Hi if buying private get a damp meter or take someone who knows the score when buying
There are lots of caravans out there if you have 3 kids depending on their ages you can get some with 3 bunks in it
Ideally you need to be looking at a 5/6 berth
Twin axles have more room but some sites dont like them
Get an awning too kids can sleep out there to
Avoid cheap deals on e-bay to if it looks too good for price its usually a scam
If seller askes for money upfront dont send full ammount at all

If it comes with an awning ask them to put it up to make sure there's no rips or tears that all the poles are the and not bent and that it fits the van (I found out the hard way )
Remember you'll want a lesiure battery and fresh and waste water containers
Light weight pots and pans and plates
But most importantly make sure you have room for your BBQ and there's storage space for beer  |

We brought one for taking on holiday and it can be a great investment if you use it often enough. You don't need to spend a fortune, some good pre-owned caravans available so what I would say is do your research first.
Also most caravans are designed with tables that turn into bunk beds which is ideal if you have kids. Invest in a good battery, will save you money in the long run and always check the wattage of anything you buy for it, most can only handle low wattage appliances.
Be prepared to get your hands dirty too, emptying your own toilet isnt pretty  |
