"No one knows what it means, but it's provocative ... it gets the people going!"
It's funny you used your username in above comment was that deliberately done? |

"Lots irk me, but what irks me even more is that I have done it and not realised until I re read my comment "
Haha that is true as well. I'm pretty sure I say some of them myself. |

"1 that I've seen too much of recently -
'Here for a short time, not a long time'
Are they warning us not to bother getting to know them? Buy now, whilst stock lasts "
That's a question for a separate thread in itself! Interesting observation |

""Looking for like minded people" I never know how to tell if we're of the same mind
I wish I knew how they know. Already."
I always think they'll expect me to agree with everything they say.
I sort of know what they mean but I equate it in my mind with that dreadful phrase "right thinking people" |

""Looking for like minded people" I never know how to tell if we're of the same mind
I usually pity them, if they endure something like my mind. Not that they get a pity/sympathy shag"
They'll come up with a blank if their mind is like mine |

"You say it best... When you say nothing at all
For me that means actions speak louder than words
Maybe its just about timing of it? "
Could be.
I’m still laughing at being called a weapon as an opening line.... a weapon in my book is referencing a spanner, meaning idiot |

I'd say it would prevent it!
I like a good exchange of views, you learn nothing listening to people who are "like minded" |

I think surely a lot of these phrases aren't intended to be taken literally, pretty much like anything we say, unless someone asks you for say geographical directions. Conversation is neuanced and that's the point in talking to different people surely, otherwise every conversation would be the same and quite predictable, imho
Maybe some folks styles just aren't to others taste, idk? |

It's about the joy of picking apart funny phrases most of us are guilty of using sometimes, not really shooting anyone's conversing style.
On that note another one "don't take it personally " |

It means "your profile tells me a lot about you". I normally take it as a bad thing, as it tends to be said with a hint of shittiness. |

I see it followed with compliments but if felt confusing because of the phrase used! |

"You say it best... When you say nothing at all
I see this similar to:
"If you cant say anything nice, don't say anying." "
To me it's a bit like - you don't have anything useful to say? It's interesting how it can be read differently. |

""Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes"
Surely that means that when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes. ?"
That could work. You can't hear criticism from a mile away. |

Likeminded - Not easy to judge when you're looking at a scant profile I'd agree. However when someone has taken time to explain in detail what they're looking for it ought to be quite clear whether they're looking for the same things and therefore likeminded. |

I was trying to give it a positive view (the comment) but no, I can still only see it as something that makes me bristle a little
The Irish accent thing further on in the thread ... someone could read a shopping list in an Irish accent and it’d still be sexy ... if LN himsellllf read it then all the better |

"You're not my type!
But you don't know me????"
Maybe it means there is no instant chemistry between us. That's what I think. Though I didn't use that phrase in ages. |
