"I was meant to go to Poland in May last year so when that got cancelled i rebooked for April. Will just take the money back this time."
Literally the same happened too me. Seems like 2021 will be crap year too |

I've just booked a couple of UK cottage breaks (free cancellation). Fingers crossed will be ok |

"I wouldn't be surprised if any country let anyone in without having the 2 doses of vaccine.
By April i would have had my 2nd vaccine but it seems as if that is irrelevant."
The 2nd vaccine is to keep you safe, not so you can go on holiday
The Government have given a loose target of Autumn for most adults to be offered the vaccine
Jet2 rely on tourists travelling
They don't carry as much cargo in the belly as the main carriers do, they need bums on seats
If not enough travel, it's not worth them flying - they save more money by parking their fleet up
Due to the vaccine rollout here and across Europe, I don't predict much of a shift this year
I know it's a pisser, I love my European mini breaks too but, as others have said, 2021 is going to be another year of upset & disruption |

There is a well known quote ‘insanity is doing the same things more than once and expecting different results’
We have been on this situation for almost a year now and anyone that books foreign travel MUST understand there is significant risk of plan being altered / changed or cancelled at short notice depending on the situation!!
I will be going nowhere until I confident it is safe to do so or get cancelled .... oh and that I have had my vaccine!!
Oh by the way, I lost over £1000 the first time round when a known Villa company refused me a refund - so yes it has cost me - not going there again!

It will be. It will come that you need something on your passport that proves you've had the 2 doses in order to travel outside the UK and for other countries to allow entry. |

It’s nice to have something to look forward to , something to get you up in dark cold mornings, but no point in booking holidays this year as we have little chance of them happening |

As Glastonbury is cancelled, we've kinda guessed our mini festival in July is cancelled too. And not holding up much hope for staycation in Aug too. No point if restrants ect are not open.
We're ok with it thou, as managing what life with covid restrictions and effects are throwing at us. Theres a lot with worst off than us. |

We all need a holiday!
I haven't had one in 3 years!
I also haven't bothered ....
researching one,
booking one,
preparing for one
or getting excited about going on one,
as like many in this thread I wouldn't want the disappointment of having one cancelled!

Jet2 were the only company to give me an immediate full refund last year. I want them to stay afloat. Hope they do. |

We have given up, not booked anything this year, we normally book everything 12 months in advance but figured it was pointless. We were supposed to be in Germany this week but when that got cancelled last year and after spending the last 9 months chasing numerous refunds we decided to wait now and book last minute when things are back on track. |

We booked with Villa + ... paid all the amount in good faith ... then we only got £600 back. They have been on a number of Consumer Programmes for their lack of understanding and diabolical Customer Service ... which I know first hand!

I miss being able to have a holiday but it dosnt seem a smart move to book one abroad for the summer. As well as the chance of it being cancelled - you could be spreading covid abroad or bringing it back. We all need to be think of the bigger picture. |

Sorry to hear that OP and to all those that were hoping to get some relief from the restrictions through a holiday abroad or at home.
As for me, I’m not even thinking of travelling abroad until.2022, and travel was essential for me making a living. I’ve reinvented what I do to at least give some of the benefits of face to face connection virtually. Fortunately my main customer likes it, but it took 11 months to be able to earn again. Having a holiday abroad is the last thing on my mind. |

It won’t be safe to travel anywhere until it’s safe EVERYWHERE!
By the time we can travel it may exclude many who won’t be able to afford the hike in prices
Anyone who thinks it’s safe to book a holiday now just because they have had a vaccine are adopting a ‘Rose tinted glasses’ attitude
We are all in need of time out and sunshine (or snow in my case) but I’m being pragmatic, not selfless/selfish |

Yes Jet2 cancelled all flights until end of April."
I'm waiting for my amsterday trip to be cancelled again....I haven't even been abroad since 2016!

"It's horrible not having anything to look forward to.
Just endless days of nothing
"
Spring is coming. The snowdrops are out and the birds are coming back.
I'm using the time to research places I might like to go in the future. Also forcing myself to get outdoors for a walk as the fresh air helps and it's also good for my routine. |

Sorry to hear about everyone having holidays cancelled. What a palavar!
We haven't booked, and won't book, anything abroad this year. It's not really a holiday if you can't do what you want when you want and you're worrying constantly whether the sauce bottle has been wiped since the previous family used it!
I've looked at self catering UK hols, lots booked up already but I'm asking myself do I really want to go when it will probably be heaving?
Fingers crossed for an awesome holiday the following year to celebrate some big family birthdays 2x50 1x18 1x21 ~ didn't time that very well did I?!!

I know it's frustrating, terribly so.
From a different angle tho, how lucky have those you who regularly have a holiday been up til covid?
My passport expired 15 years ago and there's been no point in renewing as I can't afford a holiday anyway. Closest I get to time away is when a family member pops their clogs and I get to spend a few days back in Essex with my relatives for a funeral.
I do understand that it's frustrating, believe me I do, but please, look back at the photos from the last holidays you've had and treasure the memories you made on those ones. |

Lovely sentiment Peach, and so true. Had our holidays cancelled, and looking at UK breaks for when able to do so, there is so much of the UK I've never been to. . We often look back over photos and have a laugh. |

Most of my holidays for the same purposes, mostly family funerals etc only difference is a large proportion of my family live abroad so passport is required at all times.
my 2016 trip did take me all the way to Portugal but the point of the trip was to empty a villa of the deceased.
I've only been abroad twice in my life that was an actual holiday & not for family, even family I'm lucky if we see them once every 5 years....that bit of lockdown I'm quite used to at least. |
