These documentaries are quite popular with Netflix etc. I am fascinated with them, and also podcasts.
Does anyone else get excited when a new one pops up to watch?
I am currently on the Night Stalker. |

Funny how someone can watch documentaries about real life serial killers eating a bowl of popcorn but freaks out at TikTok videos of snakes or animals jumping out quite innocently |

I reckon I could take on a serial killer....even better a snatcher. He would get bored before I would |

"Oh I think I am going to watch the Night Stalker...right now I've been watching I Am A Killer; quite interesting and some strange back stories! "
I enjoyed I am a killer too. I realised I would make a rubbish detective, as I believed every one of the guys and women's stories especially the one where the woman murdered her boyfriend claiming he wanted her to do it. |

The night stalker was mad. I make sure I have locked all my windows and doors like 3 times before I go to bed. Have you tried the serpent on itv I think. Not a documentary but more of a drama. It’s based on a true story. Pretty good so far |

"You should try the podcast All Killa No Filla, if you are into serial killers and comedians "
I don't watch anything at all, but I follow a bunch of podcasts on the subject, including All Killa No Filla. I prefer My Favourite Murder, RedHanded, and Jenson & Holes: The Murder Squad, though. |

Love them, especially when they get caught and you can then see the actual police interviews.
Good one on YouTube called The Wrath of Jodie, also one on Netflix called The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez but that’s quite harrowing and heartbreaking |

Not so much Serial Killers, but I do have a bit of a morbid fascination with The Holocaust
I had a PM late last night
"I was just thinking about you, I'm watching a programme about Auschwitz"
It's nice to be remembered |

I find them really interesting. I'm hugely interested (but not to the point I'd go into higher education or anything) in the nature/nurture element. How peoples life experience led them to where they are and how they came to do what they did.
There are some that make me sick to my stomach and others where I can genuinely understand how it happened and I feel for them in my heart. Those who got let down by the system and found themselves in a "their life or mine" situation, and I really believe I was lucky it wasn't me having to make that choice.
It has helped me understand that I not necessarily went through stuff I went through because of who I am, it wasn't ME as a person that was the target, but moreso me as the victim of circumstance. That if it wasn't me it would have been someone else. |

I managed one episode of The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez and found it too upsetting to watch more. |

I'm so glad I'm not alone. Love them. My family think I'm morbid and weird but I find them incredibly interesting although often disturbing. Night Stalker was fascinating. |

That's why mind Hunter was so good, not just the series but the actual book, how they looked at the whole nature/nurture thing as to why someone could commit these crimes |

Very sad and upsetting..there was a bit at the very end that reported in a frighteningly similar case which happened again in pretty much the same area a short while later too

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact |
Is the fascination more of a female thing? When I moved in with each of my past three exes, I looked through their book collections and noticed that all had at least one book on serial killers. Whenever I've watched a new documentary series, it has always been a female who has recommended it to me too. I haven't noticed any of my male friends being as enthusiastic regarding the genre. Same with Crime Watch. My mum loved it but it also made her paranoid |

I’m not keen on horror or gore so most of them I avoid or I’d be under the bed!!
I will watch serial killer documentaries as someone mentioned earlier - The Holocaust, Fred & Rosemary West, Shipman etc
Currently enjoy The Serpent |

The Nightstalker was really good and so interesting to hear the people who did the investigation telling the story. It's unbelievable how many chances were lost to catch him. It did lack any real detail about the motivation and background of the killer though - I felt like I wanted to know more about how he came to be such a monster.
Mindhunter is really good too, but unfortunately it seems they're not filming any more series. It feels like it's just been abandoned half-way through. |

"Was hooked by Mindhunter about the FBI profiling.......all started with Ed Kempnee the co-Ed killer.......
Edmund Kemper that dude was a giant!"
I saw a documentary about Ed Kemper talking about his killings, it featuring the actual footage that was emulated in Mind Hunter, that dude was an enigma with a calm persona and a certain intelligence, he helped the profiling process get started as he displayed all the things you expect a cold blooded calculating cool cat of a murder to be
Fascinating series, they did the same thing on Jeffrey Dahmer, asking them to self analyse, really fascinating |

Watch on catch up - it does make sense why they jump about but worth it |

If you can find the documentary I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, also a book title by Michelle McNamara about the Golden State Killer it is very much worth a watch. It’s very much a no holds bared watching, scary and horrifying in some parts but how it ends is both a tragedy and a triumph |

"I used to have a macabre fascination as a teen but I find it all too disturbing now. Give me a good dystopian film any day
C"
I'm with you on this. I have watched one or two and then it seemed to me to be reducing the brutal deaths of others to entertainment.
For every documentary or series there are real victims and destroyed families.
Reading newspaper reports is enough for me. I don't want to know the finer detail ....... it's too much to take.
I haven't watched any for years now.

"Used to have tons of serial killer books in the 90s.. unfortunately mother burnt them all..said they were a bad influence on me. I think personally she was fed up with always having to clean up all the blood..
I saw a documentary about a bloke who killed a woman in a shower, he ran a motel so it was quite easy for him to clean up after, he was close to his mother too u like your serial killer documentary _andybeach "
I’m fascinated by their psyche |

Loved the docu-dramas that were all done within a few years of each other - This is Personal (Yorkshire Ripper), See no Evil (Moors murders), Doctor Death (Shipman) etc. There was one about Peter Manual a few years ago, was very good too. |

definitely with you on those. Although I think I've become quite macabre when the sleep meditation doesn't work but put snapped on and I'm off. Think it something to do with the pitch of some of the American accents. |

Anyone watch On The Case with Paula Zahn? Lots on YouTube and Amazon prime. I really like it.

I'm absolutely intrigued by the mindset of a serial killer, some great ones on Netflix! A very good friend of mine stared as a certain serial killer in the "Conversations with a serial killer" series, but I won't say which one as I'm working on getting him and his wife into the scene lol |
