When I was a kid, everyone had the latest monophonic banger but now I think my mum is the only person who is walking round with "Mr brightside" blaring whenever she is needed.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
I have Poison by Alice Cooper for most calls, and others for certain people.
When one of my close mates rings me I get "He's a Pirate" from Pirates of the Caribbean |

Used to have to buy ring tones off the back of the tele guide. Well, I was too little to have a phone and would waste my eldest brothers money buying em |

"I remember the phone tone from '24' used to be a very popular one. "
And I still use that one.
I've always used a 'phone' sound ringtone then when more people switched to using a 'phone ring' sound I changed to the CTU ringtone so it didn't sound the same as everyone else's. |

I'm often seen holding my bag up to my ear to see if the ringing phone is my one.

Probably because only 6% of a phone usage nowadays is to make calls and that data is a year old so could even be less.
I loved mine, it was Sunshine of your love and everyone would be humming it if my phone went off |

Most people have rather more relevant and important things to worry about these days. |

Thus my ringtone brings a smile to my face each time it goes off |

Because back in the day of buying ringtones having a mobile phone was a pretty new thing, plus them phones didn't really have internet so there wasn't much else to do with your phone but to get a cool ringtone, phone and txt... and play snake |

"Mine is set to the Star Wars theme for obvious reasons.
This!
And my message alert is Lando saying ‘Hello... what have we here?’
That is old school and cool
I’m a geek "
Nothing wrong with that as long as it is Star Wars variety |

I change the ringtone on my hubby's phone every now and then, usually because it irritates me that the volume is always on full.
The most memorable one i chose was a couple having ridiculously noisy sex. He only found out once he got to the office |

Star Wars and Marvel.... although Marvel has been a recent addiction to my geek!
Star Wars... since I was 8 and my dad took me to the local cinema to watch all 3 films back to back... apparently it’s the quietest I’ve ever been |

Since working from home I have set up my ringtone to play irreverent songs to stop me from getting anxiety as I received calls every few minutes before I had even climbed out of bed.
So far I have had:
Justin Bieber, Baby
Backstreet Boys, I want it that way
Rammstein, Du Hast
Being Me the Horizon, Throne
Korn, Freak on a Leash
Weezer, Islands in the Sun
The Weeknd, In Your Eyes (current)
I have had more but those are the ones I remember. Rammstein probably gives me the most anxiety now if I hear it as I had it as my ringtone for the longest and it was during the period when everyone else was furloughed. Bring Me the Horizon and Korn I couldn't take for more than a day as they made me so pissed off! Anyway, just changed it to Belinda Carlisle, Heaven is a Place on Earth

I think it's because back then you could rarely get a song you wanted, like it was never an easy task. You had to buy a CD, download it illegally, wait for it to appear on channel 18 etc. So when you got it on your phone you felt fucking incredible having Akon blasting on your phone and it was worth the effort because you felt so cool. But now music is so easy to access so it's not as exciting.
And also my phone is pretty much always on vibrate! |

My main ringtone is an instrumental section of a prog rock song - When Shadows Fall, by Touchstone. My other ringtone for close friends is a rocking intro to a song I wrote and a musician friend recorded.
I only have my phone on mute when I'm at work. |

I’m reading through this thread with more than a little surprise.
So many of you have your phones on silent, how do you know when someone is ringing you?
And the number of you who don’t seem to make calls on your phones.
Making calls is the biggest reason I have a phone.
My ring tone is the classic ‘ ring ring’ |

Ah those were the days. I remember staying up all night to download So Solid Crew on Kazaa or Limewire. Overslept and missed lunch the next day with my gf and got dumped. BUT... I did have the new So Solid Crew album before it was even released so was all good |
