I used to be the same to the point of pen and paper by my bed to make notes during the night. I always done Aikdo from a young age and started doing Zen meditation which helped me switch off. I love sitting by sea just listerning to the ebming of the tides |

what you need Jo is an engrossing passtime which takes your mind off the usual stuff.
Our minds never really stop working but a change from the norm does us good.
Personally, I listen to music and imagine doing the choreography in my mind or sketch, paint or if at home and have a bit of time make jewellery. I used to buy mandalas and colour them in with felt tips, that is very easy, engrossing and therefore relaxing. Eventually you can create your own mandalas and this is a fun thing to do after brekkers on family holidays, having a daily theme to start them off.
I could go on, lots of ideas but it needs to be creative fun to free your mind from everyday stuff.
Yoga and meditation is great, this was invaluable to me when my kids were little but takes some time to perfect. Well worth it though, as although I don't do it much these days, if I am stressed I do.
Whatever you do, do it with gusto. |
